Axis Bank Interview Questions and Hiring Process

The short answer

Axis Bank’s careers page lists six hiring steps: application, screening, interview, offer, documents, and joining and onboarding. Some routes add tests: the Axis Sales Academy starts with a quantitative aptitude and general knowledge assessment, and ARISE Homecoming includes skills and video assessments. Prepare customer-focused examples, and never pay anyone for a job.

  • Apply through the careers page, which leads to the Axis Bank RippleHire portal.
  • Axis Bank says it charges no fees at any stage of recruitment.
  • B-school campus hiring runs through named programmes such as AHEAD, ABLe and WeLead.
  • The bank doesn’t publish its interview rounds or a timeline. Ask the recruiter who contacts you.

Cohesyve, which publishes this guide, runs practice job simulations with a scored report on where you lost marks. Cohesyve isn’t affiliated with Axis Bank and doesn’t use Axis Bank’s tests or questions.

Axis Bank publishes a short version of its hiring process on its careers page, plus more detail for specific routes such as the Axis Sales Academy and ARISE Homecoming. This guide covers both.

The facts here come from Axis Bank's own careers and About Us pages. Where the bank doesn't say something, we say so rather than repeat what prep sites claim. The interview questions are ones to prepare for; Axis Bank doesn't publish its questions.

How do you apply to Axis Bank?

From the careers page, you can search openings by state and area of work, or upload your resume to be told about roles that match your profile. Both lead to the Axis Bank RippleHire portal. The page says the bank is an equal opportunity workplace and encourages women, LGBTQIA+ and PwD candidates to apply.

What happens at the Axis Bank screening stage?

The bank reviews your application against the role. For most roles it doesn't publish a test, but some routes include one:

  • Axis Sales Academy: a pre-assessment of quantitative aptitude and general knowledge, then six days of virtual training, then a post-assessment.
  • ARISE Homecoming: application screening, skills assessments and a video assessment before interviews.

The Virtual Relationship Manager programme is different: the role follows completing the programme and clearing an assessment, so that test isn't part of screening.

The bank doesn't name a test provider, so we can't point to a specific test guide.

What is the Axis Bank interview process?

Interview is the third of the six steps. Axis Bank doesn't publish how many rounds there are, who conducts them or what they cover, and this is likely to vary by role. For ARISE Homecoming, the bank says all stages, including interviews, are expected to be virtual.

What happens after the Axis Bank interview?

If you're selected, the bank rolls out an offer, asks for your documents and then onboards you. For the Sales Academy, selected candidates must join within seven days of the offer letter and are assigned to a branch within 10 km of their location.

What is the Axis Sales Academy?

It's a hire-train-deploy programme for graduates starting a career in banking sales. The page lists these requirements:

  • aged 21 to 28
  • a graduate in any discipline with at least 50% marks
  • a valid driving licence and access to a two-wheeler
  • a PAN card and valid address proof
  • not a current or former Axis Bank employee, with no close family working at the bank
  • no pending legal cases

If you're not selected, you can reapply after six months. The page says: "Axis Bank never asks for application fees."

What campus programmes does Axis Bank run?

The campus careers page lists AHEAD for Tier 1 B-schools (interns and management trainees), Aspire for selected campuses, ABLe for MBA, PGDM and MMS graduates from Tier 2 B-schools, WeLead for women management graduates, and ARISE for graduates and postgraduates with up to five years' experience. It also lists job-linked programmes run with education partners. Apply only through the links on Axis Bank's own pages.

Axis Bank interview questions and how to answer them

Axis Bank describes its approach as "Dil Se Open" and its mission as being the preferred financial solutions provider, delivering customer delight. These questions are common in bank interviews; the advice ties each answer to the role and to what the bank says about itself.

1. Tell me about yourself.

Give a short summary: your studies or current work, one or two strengths, and why this role at Axis Bank is your next step. Finish on the role.

2. Why Axis Bank?

Name something concrete: a product you've used, the programme you're applying to, or the bank's open, inclusive culture (#ComeAsYouAre on its careers page). Link it to what you want to learn.

3. Why do you want a career in banking?

Give a specific reason, such as helping people with money decisions, working with numbers, or an experience that showed you the work. Avoid general answers about job security.

4. Tell me about a time you helped a difficult customer.

Use the STAR structure. Show that you listened, solved the problem within the rules and kept the customer informed. Customer delight is in the bank's mission.

5. How would you sell a savings account or credit card to a new customer?

For sales roles, ask a question or two about the customer's needs first, then match the product to them and be clear about charges. Never push a product the customer doesn't need.

6. How would you handle a monthly target you're behind on?

For Sales Academy and other sales roles, which ask for a sales-oriented mindset, explain how you'd plan your day, track your numbers, find new leads and ask your manager for help early.

7. Tell me about a time you made a mistake with numbers or paperwork.

Choose a real, small error. Explain how you found it, fixed it and changed your checks. Accuracy matters in a bank.

8. Tell me about a time you worked well in a team.

Show what you did and how you supported others. Axis Sales Academy hires are assigned to a branch, so an example of working with a small team on shared work fits well.

9. What would you do if a customer asked you to skip a KYC step?

Say you'd explain politely why the rule exists, offer what you can legitimately do, and escalate if needed. Integrity comes before pleasing one customer.

10. Are you willing to travel or relocate?

Answer honestly. The Sales Academy asks for a two-wheeler and willingness to travel, and ARISE Homecoming roles are in Mumbai, so check the route you've applied for.

11. What do you know about our products?

Pick two or three Axis Bank products from its website and explain them simply: what they are and who they suit.

12. Do you have any questions for us?

Ask about training in the first months (for the Sales Academy, what the six days of virtual training cover), how performance is measured, or what a good first year in the role looks like.

How to prepare for the Axis Bank interview

  1. Apply through the careers page at axis.bank.in/careers, not through links in messages.
  2. Read the job or programme description and list the skills it asks for.
  3. Brush up on basic numbers: percentages, interest and simple calculations, especially for the Sales Academy aptitude test.
  4. Read the news if you're on a route that tests general knowledge.
  5. Prepare four or five STAR stories on customers, targets, accuracy and teamwork. Our list of behavioural interview questions and the STAR method guide help.
  6. Practise out loud. A mock interview helps you hear how you sound.
  7. Keep your documents ready, since documentation is a formal step.
  8. Never pay for a job. Axis Bank says it charges no fees at any stage of recruitment.

Practising realistic work tasks

Bank interviews reward people who can explain products clearly and handle customers calmly, and that improves with practice on realistic tasks. Cohesyve, which publishes this guide, runs practice job simulations for your role, with a scored report on where you lost marks. It isn't affiliated with Axis Bank and doesn't use Axis Bank's tests or questions.
