What is the Sprouts hiring process?
You apply online for a specific role, or meet the hiring team at a hiring event, and interview if you're selected. Sprouts' FAQ says your application stays active until that position is filled, and that the details you submit are kept in its system. It doesn't publish how long hiring takes or how many interviews there are.

How do you apply to Sprouts?
Online, through the job board that matches the job. The careers page splits openings into:
- Store & Field Team: store team members and store management, on the store operations job board;
- Support Office: Sprouts' head office jobs;
- Distribution Centers: warehouse and distribution jobs.
Current team members use the internal job board. Military applicants can filter postings by their MOS.
Sprouts' stores sell produce, meat and seafood, deli, bakery, floral, dairy, grocery, vitamins and supplements, bulk and frozen foods, so read the job post to see which department you'd join.
If you have trouble submitting the application, or you're applying to a store that hasn't opened yet, Sprouts asks you to call its HR Support Desk on 844-577-7688 and select option 2.
Programmes for students and graduates
Sprouts runs three student programmes:
- Assistant Store Manager (ASM) programme: 20 weeks of hands-on training in people management, operations and customer experience, for candidates within six months of graduating from a full-time bachelor's or master's degree.
- Store Support Office New Graduate Program: for recent graduates, across areas such as merchandising, supply chain, finance, marketing and IT, with the same six-month rule.
- Summer Internship Program: 10 weeks, project-based, for students in their sophomore or junior year.
Does Sprouts hold hiring events?
Yes. Sprouts says it runs campus career fairs and new store hiring events, where you can speak directly with the hiring team. On 27 October 2026 its hiring events page said no events were scheduled, so check it before you plan around one.
Does Sprouts have an assessment?
Sprouts doesn't publish one. Its careers pages and FAQ don't mention a pre-hire test, so treat any question lists you read elsewhere as unconfirmed.
If you're sent an assessment that shows you workplace situations and asks what you'd do, it's a situational judgement format. Our guide to situational judgement tests explains how those work.
What is the Sprouts interview like?
Sprouts doesn't describe its interview format, so ask whoever contacts you who you'll meet and how long to allow. Its annual report tells you what it's looking for: a love of food, pride in service and fit with its purpose-driven culture. It also says Sprouts trains team members in customer engagement and product knowledge.
Sprouts' FAQ describes its purpose as "inspiring healthy living for all", and its annual report says it helps "people live and eat better". Its three values are:
- We Care: "We care for each other, our customers and the planet."
- We Love Being Different: "Our diverse team members and products create a unique experience for our customers."
- We Own It: "We work as a team to deliver excellence in all we do and celebrate our success."
Several answers below draw on them.
How do you check your Sprouts application status?
Contact the store you applied to. Sprouts' FAQ says that's the way to get an update, and that your application stays active until the position is filled. For a store that hasn't opened yet, call the HR Support Desk. If you're not selected, Sprouts suggests you keep checking its careers portal and apply for other roles.
Common Sprouts interview questions and how to answer them
1. Why do you want to work at Sprouts?
Be specific. Mention something you like about the store, a product you buy there, or its purpose of inspiring healthy living. Sprouts' own FAQ says its stores are a good place to work "because you can feel good about the products you are selling", so a genuine interest in the food is a strong place to start.
2. Tell me about yourself.
Keep it to about a minute: what you do now, one strength that fits a Sprouts value or what its annual report looks for (a love of food, pride in service excellence), and why you applied. End on the department you're applying to, such as produce, deli or bakery.
3. What do you enjoy about food or healthy eating?
Sprouts says it recruits people with a love of food. You don't need to be an expert. Talk about what you cook, a product you discovered or why fresh food matters to you, and keep it real.
4. Tell me about a time you gave a customer great service.
Use the STAR method: the situation, what you did and the result. This maps to We Care and to the "service excellence" Sprouts says it hires for. If you haven't worked in retail, use an example from school, volunteering or a club.
5. A customer asks about a product you don't know. What do you do?
Say you'd be honest, find out from a colleague or the product information, and come back with the answer. Sprouts trains staff in product knowledge, so showing you'd learn is better than guessing.
6. Which of our values matters most to you?
Pick one of We Care, We Love Being Different and We Own It, and give a real example of it from your life or work. One value with a story is stronger than reciting all three.
7. Tell me about a time you took ownership of a problem.
This is We Own It. Describe something that wasn't strictly your job, what you did to fix it and what happened. Show that you saw it through to the end.
8. Tell me about a time you worked well as part of a team.
We Own It also says Sprouts works as a team and celebrates success. Choose an example where the team's result mattered more than your own part, and say what you contributed.
9. How do you work with people who are different from you?
This maps to We Love Being Different. Give an example of working well with a colleague or customer whose background or view differed from yours, and what you learned from it.
10. How would you handle a busy shift with customers waiting and shelves to restock?
Explain how you'd prioritise: help the customer in front of you, keep the area safe and tidy, and ask a teammate for help early. A real example from a busy day is stronger than a general promise.
11. What is your availability?
Answer honestly, and make sure it matches what you put on your application.
12. For leadership roles: how do you coach and give feedback?
Sprouts' annual report says its leadership development focuses on coaching and feedback, and it filled 61% of its store manager positions with internal candidates in 2025. Describe someone you coached, the feedback you gave and how they improved.
13. Do you have any questions for us?
Ask how training works in the department, what a good first month looks like, or how team members grow into leadership roles.
How to prepare for a Sprouts interview
- Read the three values and choose one you can talk about with a real example.
- Visit the store you applied to and walk the department you'd work in.
- Prepare four or five STAR stories on customer service, teamwork, ownership and learning. Our list of behavioural interview questions gives you more to practise on.
- Have an answer to "Why Sprouts?" that mentions the food or the purpose.
- Practise out loud, ideally in a mock interview with someone who will give honest feedback.
- Know your availability before you go in.
- Bring two or three questions about training and the team.
Practising realistic work tasks
Interviews reward prepared stories. Assessments, where an employer uses them, reward judgement, which improves with practice on realistic tasks. Cohesyve, which publishes this guide, runs practice job simulations for your role, with a scored report on where you lost marks. It isn't affiliated with Sprouts Farmers Market and doesn't use its assessments or questions.
