Smoothie King hires store team members through its careers site and its stores. You find an opening, apply, interview with the store and hear back. Smoothie King says each franchise location is independently owned and operated, so the details depend on who runs the store you apply to.
Everything below about the process comes from Smoothie King's careers site, its FAQ and its job postings, linked as we go. Smoothie King doesn't publish an interview format, question list or timeline, and where a step isn't documented we say so. The interview questions further down are ones to prepare for, built from what Smoothie King says it looks for.

Smoothie King interview questions and how to answer them
Smoothie King doesn't publish a question list. These are questions to prepare for, chosen to match its postings, its mission and its five core values. On its purpose page, Smoothie King gives its mission as "Inspire people to live a healthy and active lifestyle" and lists its core values as:
- We keep evolving
- We live the mission
- We focus and finish
- We do the right thing
- We are better together
Use the STAR structure (situation, task, action, result) for "tell me about a time" questions. Our STAR method guide walks through it.
1. Tell me about yourself.
Keep it under a minute: what you're doing now, any work or volunteering where you served people, and why this job fits. If health or fitness matters to you, say so briefly. The Charlotte posting asks for people excited about it.
2. Why do you want to work at Smoothie King?
Tie your answer to the mission. Smoothie King says team members spend their days "helping people live healthier, more active lives". A specific reason, such as a goal you've worked towards or a store you visit, beats a general one.
3. How would you help a guest who doesn't know what to order?
The posting describes helping guests choose smoothies that meet their fitness and nutrition goals. Show that you'd ask what they want the smoothie for, suggest options and check they're happy. This is "we live the mission" in practice.
4. Tell me about a time you went out of your way for a customer.
Pick a story where you noticed what someone needed before they asked. The posting's "guest comes first" attitude is what the interviewer is listening for.
5. How do you keep orders accurate when the store is busy?
Blending and prep are a big part of the job, and every guest's order matters to them. Describe how you'd prioritise, read each order carefully and keep talking to people who are waiting. Link it to "we focus and finish".
6. Tell me about a time you finished a task nobody was checking.
Opening and closing duties and store checklist tasks are on the posting. A story about finishing the unseen work properly shows "we focus and finish" and reliability.
7. Tell me about a time you did the right thing when it was easier not to.
This maps to "we do the right thing". Food safety, honesty with a guest or owning a mistake all work. Say what the easier option was and why you didn't take it.
8. Tell me about a time you helped a teammate.
"We are better together" is one of Smoothie King's core values. Describe what you did for the other person, as well as for the task.
9. Tell me about a time you learned something new or changed how you work.
"We keep evolving" is about growth. The Covington posting expects team members to advise on vitamins and supplements, so show that you learn product details quickly and enjoy it.
10. What does a healthy and active lifestyle mean to you?
There's no right answer. Be honest and practical, and avoid giving medical advice. The point is to show you could talk about it comfortably with guests.
11. What is your availability?
Have an honest answer that matches your application, including openings and closes if you can do them, since the posting lists both.
12. Where do you see yourself in a year?
Smoothie King's career path page says team members are encouraged to grow, including into corporate roles, and the Covington posting names Shift Leader, Lead Trainer and Assistant Manager. If you'd like to move up, say which step and what you'd learn first.
13. Do you have any questions for us?
Ask about training, how shifts are scheduled and what a strong first month looks like.
For more practice, our list of behavioural interview questions has a wider bank, and our situational interview questions cover "what would you do if" prompts.
What happens after the Smoothie King interview?
Smoothie King doesn't publish a timeline or describe the steps after an interview. Ask at the end of the interview when you should expect to hear and how. If the store is a franchise, its own process applies.
