NYU Langone Hiring Process and Interview Questions

The short answer

NYU Langone Health hires in four steps: you apply online with a resume, complete a talent assessment sent about ten days later, are contacted by HR and then interview with unit managers or team members, and, as a finalist, pass a reference check before a preliminary offer and onboarding. NYU Langone doesn’t publish an overall timeline.

  • Applications must be completed online; NYU Langone asks you to update and upload your resume.
  • NYU Langone’s published bias audit (Nov 2019 to Dec 2025) covers Talent Plus assessments.
  • Many nursing and allied health roles also run virtual interview days you join by applying to the event posting.
  • Genuine NYU Langone emails end in @nyulangone.org, and it never asks for bank details while you apply.

NYU Langone Health's hiring process has four steps: an online application followed by a talent assessment, interviews, a reference check and preliminary offer, then onboarding and orientation. NYU Langone sets these out on its job postings under "Our Hiring Process". It doesn't publish how long the whole process takes.

Everything below comes from NYU Langone's own careers site, linked as we go. Where NYU Langone doesn't say something, we say so. The interview questions are ones to prepare for; NYU Langone doesn't publish its questions.

NYU Langone counts onboarding and orientation as its fourth step and treats the assessment as part of applying. We've split them out so each one gets its own answer below.

How do you apply to NYU Langone?

You apply online through the job search on jobs.nyulangone.org. Every posting we checked says "We require applications to be completed online," and NYU Langone's hiring process asks you to update and upload your resume. You'll get an email confirmation shortly after you submit.

  • Track your application with the "Check Application Status" link at the top of the careers site.
  • Current employees apply through a separate route ("Apply as Current Employee") and the internal Talent Mobility platform.
  • Accommodations: NYU Langone's careers site lists an accessibility phone line for help with your application, including accommodation requests, and a separate email address for technical problems.

Virtual interview days for clinical roles

For many nursing, nursing support and allied health roles, NYU Langone runs recruitment events: virtual interview days and series for roles such as registered nurses, patient care technicians, physical therapists and imaging technologists. The event postings we checked ask you to apply to the posting itself. For the experienced RN series, a member of the Talent Engagement Team then contacts you to schedule your virtual interview. That series asks for at least one year of RN experience, a BSN and an active RN licence.

New graduate nurses

NYU Langone says every new graduate nurse it hires automatically joins its Nurse Residency Program, a one-year programme following the Vizient/AACN curriculum. There's no separate application. Its stated eligibility:

  • graduation from an NLN- or CCNE-accredited programme;
  • preference for candidates with a GPA of 3.5 or higher;
  • a New York State RN licence before you start (you can apply before you graduate).

What is the NYU Langone talent assessment?

It's an online pre-hire assessment that NYU Langone says you'll receive ten days after applying. NYU Langone doesn't describe its content, length or scoring on its careers site.

What it does publish is a bias audit of its automated hiring tools, linked as "AEDT Bias Audit Results" in the careers site footer. The audit, covering November 2019 to December 2025, names the tools as Talent Plus assessments and records each applicant as "Recommended" or "Not Recommended". Talent Plus describes itself as a talent intelligence firm offering validated assessments and structured interviews, and lists healthcare among its industries.

Treat question counts or time limits you read elsewhere as unconfirmed. A few points apply to any pre-hire questionnaire of this kind:

  • Watch your inbox for about ten days after applying, including spam, and complete the assessment promptly.
  • Answer as you actually work. NYU Langone publishes no answer key, so guessing what it wants is guesswork.
  • Do it somewhere quiet, in one sitting if you can.

If you haven't taken a pre-hire questionnaire before, our guide to psychometric assessments explains how they work in general.

What happens in the NYU Langone interview?

If you're selected to continue, HR contacts you first by phone or email. Then, depending on the position, NYU Langone schedules an interview with unit managers or team members. NYU Langone encourages you to dress professionally for all interviews.

It doesn't publish how many interviews there are, how long they last or whether they're in person or virtual. Clinical hiring events are often virtual. Ask the person who schedules you who you'll meet and how long to allow.

What happens after the NYU Langone interview?

If you complete the interviews and are identified as a finalist, NYU Langone asks you to complete a professional reference process. After evaluating your references, it decides who receives a preliminary offer. If that's you, HR starts onboarding with an agreed tentative start date.

Have your referees' contact details ready before your interviews, and let them know a call or form may be coming.

What is NYU Langone onboarding like?

An onboarding specialist contacts you about your pre-boarding requirements. Once you're fully cleared, you complete compliance orientation regulatory training. On your first day you attend a required online orientation, then report to your department as your hiring manager instructs. NYU Langone also runs New Beginnings orientation programmes for new employees and managers.

NYU Langone doesn't list what the pre-boarding requirements include. Your onboarding specialist will tell you.

Practising realistic work tasks

Interviews reward prepared stories. Assessments and the job itself reward judgement, and that improves with practice on realistic tasks. Cohesyve, which publishes this guide, runs practice job simulations for your role, with a scored report on where you lost marks. It isn't affiliated with NYU Langone Health and doesn't use its assessments or questions.
