Deloitte is a network of member firms, and each one runs its own hiring. Deloitte US describes an online application followed by two to three rounds of interviews. Deloitte UK's early-career route adds an online assessment, a job simulation and a final stage at a Deloitte office. Deloitte India publishes its recruitment terms but not a list of stages.
Everything below comes from Deloitte's own careers pages, linked as we go. Where Deloitte doesn't say something, we say so.
The Deloitte hiring process at a glance
| Stage | Deloitte US | Deloitte UK early careers |
|---|---|---|
| Apply | Online application; recruiters compare your resume with the role | Online form, about 15 minutes, in one session |
| Online assessment | None described | Immersive Online Assessment: behavioural and cognitive parts |

| Interviews | Two to three rounds by telephone, video or in person | Final stage: a topic discussion and a skills and motivation interview |
| Decision | Written offer typically within a week of the final interview | Results within four weeks of each online stage; offer after the final stage |
Deloitte UK says apprenticeships and some shorter work experience programmes combine the online assessment and job simulation into one assessment called OneStop. Check your programme's details.
What is the Deloitte hiring process?
It's an online application followed by interviews, with online assessments first for UK early-career programmes. The details depend on the member firm.
Deloitte US
Deloitte US sets out five steps on its recruiting tips page: meet us, start your search, apply, interview, and offer and onboard.
- Apply online through the job posting. Recruiters review your resume and qualifications against the role, and Deloitte contacts you if you're selected for an interview.
- Work sponsorship: Deloitte US says it accepts applications from candidates who need it, and your recruiter will discuss the details.
- Students: Deloitte says recruiting timelines vary and encourages you to look at open roles early.
Deloitte UK early careers
Deloitte UK's assessment page covers Summer Vacation Scheme, Industrial Placement, Graduate and BrightStart roles. The application takes about 15 minutes and must be done in one session, because progress isn't saved. Most graduate programmes ask for a predicted 2:1 or above in any discipline, and Deloitte says it has removed A-Level and GCSE requirements for most programmes.
Deloitte UK can close applications early when it receives a very high volume, so apply as early as you can.
Deloitte India
Deloitte India doesn't publish a list of stages. Its recruitment terms say interviews and tests are normally held in the city where the role is based, that you mustn't record any part of the interview, and that you can't apply for other roles during an ongoing process without Deloitte's written consent. Ask your recruiter which rounds apply to your role.

What is the Deloitte online assessment?
For Deloitte UK early careers, it's the Immersive Online Assessment, in two parts. Deloitte US doesn't describe an online assessment, and Deloitte India doesn't publish one.
| Part | What it involves |
|---|---|
| Behavioural Assessment | Workplace scenarios where you rank actions by how likely you'd be to take them, plus questions about your preferred working style |
| Cognitive Assessment | Numerical and verbal reasoning |
- Timing: no overall time limit, but Deloitte recommends one sitting. Some questions are timed and labelled as such.
- Feedback: you get a strengths-based feedback report, and a decision within four weeks.
- Practice: Deloitte's free Candidate Zone includes practice assessments. Deloitte says using answers from third-party websites breaches its integrity guidelines.
Deloitte's advice for the behavioural part is to rank responses by instinct rather than guess what assessors want. Ranking actions in workplace scenarios is a situational judgement format; our situational judgement test guide explains how that format works in general. Deloitte doesn't name a test provider.
What is the Deloitte job simulation?
It's the UK's third stage: work-based scenarios where you rank options, select the most appropriate responses, and give written and video answers. Deloitte says it assesses how you think, make decisions, solve problems and use AI responsibly. You won't be asked to use an AI tool, and any information you need is in the question or its resources.
Deloitte suggests a quiet, comfortable place and telling anyone at home that you're taking an assessment. If recorded video answers are new to you, our guide to one-way video interviews explains the format.
What is the Deloitte interview process?
In the US, expect two to three rounds by telephone, video or in person, usually starting within one to two weeks of being selected. In the UK, the interview happens at the final stage.
Deloitte US interviews
Later rounds may include several Deloitte professionals and a mix of interview types. Deloitte names three:
- Behavioural: Deloitte recommends the STAR method (situation, task, action, result) and suggests mock interviews.
- Technical: depends on the role.
- Case or scenario: fictional examples of real client projects. Deloitte offers a case interview tool for entry-level consulting candidates and a scenario tool for entry-level Audit & Assurance candidates.
For cases, Deloitte recommends five steps: clarify the issue, identify assumptions, summarise the key issues and findings, state your recommendations, and outline next steps and expected impact. Deloitte says what matters is conveying your logic and thought process clearly; there's no single "right" answer to find.
Deloitte UK final stage
Graduate, Entry Level Apprentice, Industrial Placement and BrightStart candidates attend in person at a Deloitte office; the Summer Vacation Scheme final stage is virtual. Your invite includes a topic to research beforehand.
| Exercise | What happens | Length |
|---|---|---|
| Topic discussion | A two-way conversation with an assessor on the topic you prepared | About 30 to 40 minutes |
| Skills and motivation interview | How your strengths match the capabilities Deloitte looks for | About 50 minutes |
Summer Vacation Scheme candidates complete only the interview. Deloitte says its assessors want you to do well and aren't trying to trick you.
What happens after the Deloitte interview?
In the US, Deloitte says it tells you your status as soon as possible, and a written offer typically follows within a week of the final interview. An onboarding coordinator then helps with your start date and new-hire training.
In the UK, you get feedback after the final stage. If you're unsuccessful, you can reapply in the following academic year: Deloitte UK accepts one application per programme, per academic year (September to August).
What does Deloitte look for in candidates?
Deloitte's purpose is to "make an impact that matters", and it lists five shared values:
| Value | What it means at Deloitte |
|---|---|
| Lead the way | Leading and reinventing the profession |
| Serve with integrity | Acting ethically to earn and keep trust |
| Take care of each other | Respect, fairness, development and well-being |
| Foster inclusion | An inclusive culture that embraces diversity |
| Collaborate for measurable impact | Working across businesses, places and skills to deliver results |
For case interviews, Deloitte says it looks for problem-solving, analytical ability, strategic and logical thinking, comfort with ambiguity, and a professional manner.
Common Deloitte interview questions
Deloitte US publishes sample behavioural questions on its behavioural interview tips page; questions 1 to 6 are Deloitte's own. The rest are ones its values and process point to. For more practice, see our list of behavioural interview questions.
1. "Give me an example of a time when you were juggling a lot of responsibilities. How did you handle it?"
Deloitte says this tests how you balance priorities. Show how you decided what came first, what you said no to or delegated, and how it turned out.
2. "Describe a time when you saw a problem and took the initiative to correct it."
Deloitte says this shows your problem-solving process. Walk through how you spotted it, the options you weighed and the result. Leading on a fix fits "Lead the way".
3. "Tell me about a conflict you had with a team member. How did you handle it?"
Deloitte is looking at how you lead and work with others. Show respect for the other person, what you did to resolve it and what the working relationship looked like afterwards. That's "Take care of each other" in practice.
4. "Think of a time when you had to complete a rush project but didn't have all the information you needed."
Deloitte says this tests how you handle ambiguity. Explain the assumptions you made, how you checked them and how you flagged the risk.
5. "Tell me about a time when you had to lead a project or team. What was the outcome?"
Use a result you can describe plainly. Deloitte's advice is to explain how you did things as well as what you did.
6. "Can you provide an example of a time when you had to adapt to a significant change?"
Pick a real change, how you adjusted and what you learned. Deloitte says every experience, positive or challenging, contributes to your growth.
7. Why Deloitte?
Connect something specific about the business or service line you're applying to with the purpose, "make an impact that matters". Generic praise for the brand won't stand out.
8. Why this service line?
Deloitte recruits into distinct areas such as consulting and audit, with different interview tools for each. Show you know what the role does day to day and why it suits you.
9. Tell me about a time you had to act with integrity under pressure.
This maps to "Serve with integrity". Choose an example where doing the right thing cost you time or effort, and say what you did.
10. Tell me about a time you worked with people very different from you.
This tests "Foster inclusion" and "Collaborate for measurable impact". Show how you drew on different views and what the group achieved because of it.
11. Walk me through a business problem (case interview).
Use Deloitte's five steps: clarify, state assumptions, summarise findings, recommend, and set out next steps and impact. Talk through your thinking as you go.
12. Do you have any questions for us?
Deloitte describes the behavioural interview as a two-way street and encourages questions about culture, values and the team. Ask about how new joiners learn and what success looks like in the first year.
How to prepare for Deloitte's hiring process
- Pick the right member firm and programme, and read its own process pages; they differ by country.
- Use Deloitte's free practice: the Candidate Zone in the UK, and the case or scenario tools in the US.
- Take online assessments in one quiet sitting, in your own words, without third-party answer sites.
- Prepare five or six STAR stories that cover Deloitte's sample questions. Our STAR method guide shows how to structure them.
- Practise cases out loud using Deloitte's five steps, ideally in a mock interview, which Deloitte's own recruiters recommend.
- Research your final-stage topic properly if you're in the UK process; the invite says it's mandatory.
Deloitte India warns of fake job offers and says it never asks candidates to pay anything. Only an authorised Deloitte official can confirm an offer.
Practising realistic work tasks
Deloitte's job simulation and case interviews both test how you handle realistic work. Cohesyve, which publishes this guide, runs practice job simulations for your role, with a scored report on where you lost marks. It isn't affiliated with Deloitte and doesn't use Deloitte's tests or questions.
