Chuck E. Cheese doesn't publish its interview questions, but its postings and values point to how you treat kids and families, whether you take safety seriously, your energy on a busy shift and your availability. CEC Entertainment, which runs Chuck E. Cheese, publishes its roles, minimum ages and values, but not its interview format or how long hiring takes.
Everything below comes from CEC's own careers site and job postings, linked as we go. Where CEC doesn't say something, we say so rather than guess.

What is the Chuck E. Cheese hiring process?
You find a role on CEC's careers site, apply online, interview and, if you're selected, start training. CEC doesn't describe the steps between applying and starting; its FAQ page invites questions to recruit@cecentertainment.com.
CEC groups its jobs into four career avenues:
- Cast Member: part-time restaurant roles, including Party Host, Gameroom Attendant, Cashier, Cast Member Key Holder, Kid Check Attendant, Kitchen Staff and Assistant Technician. Cast Members are cross-trained in several positions.
- Technical Management: Tech in Development and Gameroom Technician, maintaining and repairing games, rides, robotic shows, registers and Play Pass systems.
- Restaurant Management: Opening Coordinators, Assistant Managers, Senior Assistant Managers, General Managers and District Managers.
- Corporate: roles supporting the restaurants, including the Sales Center, the birthday party reservations call centre, which CEC says hires throughout the year.

It depends on the role. CEC's FAQ gives these minimum ages:
| Role | Minimum age |
|---|---|

| Opening Coordinator | 18 |
| Assistant Manager, Senior Assistant Manager, Gameroom Technical Manager, General Manager | 21, or the age local law sets for serving alcohol |
How do you apply for a job at Chuck E. Cheese?
Search by keyword and location on chuckejobs.com, then apply through CEC's Workday portal. Each posting names the restaurant, so check you're applying to the location you want.
Read the posting before you apply. The Cast Member postings we read on 27 October 2026 (a Game Room Attendant and a Server) listed the same minimum qualifications:
- at least 15 years old;
- available to work various shifts;
- excellent customer service skills;
- an "energetic and enthusiastic personality."
They also listed the physical side of the job: lifting or carrying 0 to 50 pounds, standing, bending and reaching through a shift, and working around flashing lights, moving mechanical parts and loud noise.
If a new restaurant is opening near you, CEC says management and technician roles open once construction starts and Cast Member roles open about 30 days before opening.
Does Chuck E. Cheese have an assessment?
CEC doesn't publish an assessment for restaurant roles, and the postings we read didn't mention one. If you're asked to complete a questionnaire, answer as you actually work. If it shows you workplace scenarios and asks what you would do, it's a situational judgement format; our guide to situational judgement tests explains how that works in general.
What is the Chuck E. Cheese interview like?
CEC doesn't publish an interview format, length or number of rounds. When you're contacted, it's reasonable to ask who you'll meet and how long to allow.
CEC does publish what it wants. Its culture page gives the mission, "Provide a fun and safe place where families can make life-long memories," and six core values: Safety, Service, Integrity, Diversity and Inclusion, Innovation and Results Oriented. It says it wants people committed to making sure "every guest leaves happy." Prepare examples that show those.
How long does the Chuck E. Cheese hiring process take?
CEC doesn't publish a timeline. If you haven't heard back within a week or so of your interview, a short, polite follow-up with the manager who interviewed you is reasonable. For general questions, CEC lists recruit@cecentertainment.com.
What happens after you're hired at Chuck E. Cheese?
You train on the job. CEC says Cast Members are cross-trained in a variety of positions, and it advertises training and development and both restaurant and corporate career tracks. It says over 60% of its current restaurant managers were promoted from within. CEC also offers early wage access, which it sums up as "Work today, get paid tomorrow."
What questions does Chuck E. Cheese ask in interviews?
CEC doesn't publish its interview questions. The questions below follow from its roles, its postings and its values, plus the standard questions most restaurant interviews include. For "tell me about a time" questions, use the STAR method: situation, task, action, result.
1. Tell me about yourself.
Keep it to about a minute: school or what you do now, one relevant strength and why you're applying. Lead with anything involving kids, customers or teamwork, such as babysitting, coaching or a part-time job.
2. Why do you want to work at Chuck E. Cheese?
Be specific. CEC's mission is to provide a fun and safe place where families make lifelong memories. Say what you'd enjoy about helping kids and families have a good time, or a memory of your own there.
3. How comfortable are you working with young children?
CEC's postings ask for customer service skills and an "energetic and enthusiastic personality." Give a real example of looking after or helping children, and show you stay patient when they're excited or upset.
4. How would you make a child's birthday party go well?
Party Host is one of the Cast Member roles, and CEC celebrates a lot of birthdays. Talk about welcoming the family, keeping things on schedule, getting every child involved and making the birthday child feel special.
5. Why does Kid Check matter, and how would you handle it?
CEC describes Kid Check as making sure "all guests that come together leave together." Show that you'd follow the check every time, even when it's busy, and call a manager if anything doesn't match. Safety is CEC's first listed value.
6. What would you do if you saw a child somewhere unsafe, or a game wasn't working properly?
Say you'd make the area safe first, stay calm with the child and family, and report the issue to a manager or technician straight away. Game Room Attendants are asked to keep games "clean and operational."
7. How would you handle an upset parent?
Listen, apologise, fix what you're allowed to and get a manager when it's beyond you. Tie it to CEC's goal that every guest leaves happy.
8. Tell me about a time you kept your energy up during a busy, noisy shift.
Postings ask for an "energetic and enthusiastic personality" and warn about flashing lights and loud noise. Give an example from work, sport or school where you stayed upbeat under pressure.
9. Tell me about a time you worked well as part of a team.
Cast Members are cross-trained and move between positions. Pick an example where you helped somewhere that wasn't your usual job.
10. What would you do if a guest tried to pay with the wrong amount or asked for a discount you can't give?
This is Integrity, one of CEC's values, and relevant for Cashiers. Say you'd count carefully, explain politely and involve a manager instead of bending the rules.
11. What is your availability?
Be honest and exact. Postings ask you to work various shifts, so state your weekday, weekend and holiday availability clearly, and any school limits if you're under 18.
12. (Technician roles) Tell me about something mechanical or electrical you've fixed.
Technical Management covers games, rides, robotic shows and registers. Walk through how you diagnosed the fault, what you checked first and how you made sure it stayed fixed.
13. (Managers) How would you motivate a team of young, part-time Cast Members?
CEC says making guests happy starts with making its own people happy. Talk about clear expectations, fair scheduling, recognising good work and coaching people who are new to their first job.

How to prepare for a Chuck E. Cheese interview
- Check the minimum age for the role you want before applying.
- Read the posting and have an example for each qualification it lists.
- Learn the six values, with Safety first, and have a story for at least three of them.
- Prepare four or five STAR stories about kids, upset customers, teamwork and staying energetic.
- Fix your availability, including weekends and school holidays.
- Rehearse out loud, ideally in a mock interview with someone who will give you honest feedback.
- Bring two or three questions about training, which positions you'd cover and how Cast Members move into management.
Practising realistic work tasks
Interviews reward prepared stories. The job itself rewards judgement with guests, and that improves with practice. Cohesyve, which publishes this guide, runs practice job simulations for roles such as customer service, with a scored report on where you lost marks. Cohesyve isn't affiliated with Chuck E. Cheese and doesn't use its questions or assessments.
