Prepare for two kinds of question: whether you can do the technical work, and whether you fit how Tech Mahindra works. Prepare to explain your projects and the skills on your CV, and to answer HR questions on why Tech Mahindra, learning, teamwork and relocation.
Tech Mahindra publishes little about its interview process. The process details below come from its own careers pages and fraud warning, linked as we go. Where Tech Mahindra doesn't say something, we say so. The interview questions are ones to prepare for; Tech Mahindra doesn't publish its questions.
The Tech Mahindra hiring process at a glance
| Step | What happens | What Tech Mahindra publishes |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Register | Freshers register on the E-Campus portal when a drive is open, or through their college. Experienced candidates create a profile on careers.techmahindra.com. | Fresher registration opens per drive. Both fresher sections were closed on 27 October 2026 |
| 2. Assessment and interviews | Tech Mahindra doesn't publish its tests or rounds. Its fraud warning refers to an interviewing panel. | Not published |
| 3. Offer | A system-generated offer letter from the techmahindra.com domain, usually with a QR code to verify it. | No timeline published |
What is the Tech Mahindra hiring process?
You register, go through Tech Mahindra's assessment and interviews, and get an offer letter if you're selected. How you register depends on whether you're a fresher or experienced. Tech Mahindra says its hiring "is purely based on principles of meritocracy and relevance".
Applying as an experienced candidate
Create a profile on careers.techmahindra.com. Registration asks for:
- an email address, which becomes your username (your password is emailed to you);
- your country and years of experience;
- up to five skills, so choose the five that best match the roles you want;
- your CV as a .doc, .docx or .pdf file;
- a declaration that your information is complete and accurate.
The site lists IT and BPS openings separately, so check you're in the right one before applying.
Applying as a fresher
Tech Mahindra runs fresher registration through its E-Campus registration page, with separate sections for Engineering and MCA candidates and Science and Diploma candidates. On 27 October 2026 both sections said registration was "currently not open", so watch for the next drive. If Tech Mahindra hires through your college, your placement officer can give you the campus recruiters' email IDs so you can check who you're dealing with.

What is the Tech Mahindra interview process?
Tech Mahindra doesn't publish the number of interview rounds, their names or their length, for freshers or for experienced hires. Its fraud warning does say that a genuine interviewing panel carries Tech Mahindra ID cards, and that campus candidates can ask their placement officer for the email IDs of campus recruiters to check who they're dealing with.
Plan for both kinds of question:
- Technical: your projects, the skills you listed, the programming language on your CV and the core subjects of your degree.
- HR: why Tech Mahindra, how you learn and work with people, relocation, shifts and your documents.
Your drive notice or interview email is the most reliable guide to the rounds you'll face. If it doesn't say, ask.
Does Tech Mahindra have an online test?
Tech Mahindra doesn't publish an online test pattern on its careers pages: no sections, question counts, timing or cut-offs. Prep sites describe fresher tests in detail, but they don't agree with each other on the number of rounds, so treat their patterns as unconfirmed and go by the details in your registration or drive email.
If your test includes aptitude or reasoning sections, practise timed questions in those areas. If it includes questions about your preferences and working style, our guide to psychometric assessments explains how those work. Answer honestly.
How do you know a Tech Mahindra offer letter is genuine?
Tech Mahindra's fraudulent job offers warning (2017) sets out what genuine hiring looks like:
| Check | What Tech Mahindra says |
|---|---|
| Fees | It doesn't charge any fee or collect any deposit for any job, including for training |
| Email domain | An email or offer from a public or free domain, not techmahindra.com, is fake |
| Channel | It never issues offer letters on WhatsApp or social networking sites |
| QR code | System-generated offer letters carry a QR code on the first page that opens the careers portal and shows your Applicant ID, name and email after a captcha. Some letters lack it because of technical issues |
| Interview panel | Don't trust a panel that doesn't have Tech Mahindra ID cards |
Report a suspicious offer to corporateombudsman@techmahindra.com with "FAKE HIRING" as the subject line, or to local law enforcement.
What questions does Tech Mahindra ask in interviews?
Expect technical questions on your projects and skills, and HR questions about how you work. Tech Mahindra describes its culture through six pillars on The TechM Way, and says it wants people who are "enterprising, disruptive, and evolving":
| Pillar | How Tech Mahindra describes it |
|---|---|
| Innovation | Innovate boldly, turning ideas into impact |
| People | Unite our people, fostering collaboration and collective growth |
| Learning | Learn continuously, growing together and unlocking new potential |
| Market-Focus | Deep customer focus and differentiated market value |
| Inclusive | Include every voice, building strength through diversity and belonging |
| Performance | Perform with excellence, driven by shared ambition and accountability |
The questions below are common ones to prepare for, each with how to answer it for Tech Mahindra. Use the STAR method (situation, task, action, result) for the "tell me about a time" questions.
1. Tell me about yourself.
Give a short, structured answer: your degree or current role, one or two projects or results you're proud of, and why this Tech Mahindra role fits. Keep it to a couple of minutes and lead into the skills you listed.
2. Why Tech Mahindra?
Be specific. Mention the kind of work you want, the learning culture Tech Mahindra describes (it says everyone "from a management trainee to a CXO" keeps learning), or a pillar that matches how you work. Generic praise for the company's size doesn't help.
3. Explain your final-year project or your most recent project.
Expect follow-up questions. Cover the problem, your part in it, the technology you used and why, what went wrong and what you'd change. Know every line of your CV that mentions it.
4. Which programming language are you strongest in? Explain a concept from it.
Pick the language on your CV and be ready to explain its core ideas clearly, with a small example. If you listed five skills at registration, expect questions on any of them.
5. Tell me about a time you learned something new quickly.
This maps to the Learning pillar. Describe what you had to learn, how you went about it and how you used it. A new tool or technology picked up for a project is a good example.
6. Tell me about an idea you tried that didn't work.
Tech Mahindra says its people "may fail in innovation once, but they will never fail to innovate". This maps to Innovation. Show the idea, why it failed, what you learned and what you tried next.
7. Describe a time you worked in a team to finish something difficult.
This maps to People: collaboration and collective growth. Make your own contribution clear, and show how you helped the rest of the team get there.
8. How would you handle a client who keeps changing their requirements?
This tests Market-Focus, Tech Mahindra's deep customer focus. Show that you'd understand what the client really needs, agree changes clearly and keep your team informed.
9. Tell me about a time you took responsibility for a result.
This maps to Performance: excellence and accountability. Pick an example where you owned the outcome, including one where something went wrong and you fixed it.
10. How do you work with people from different backgrounds?
This maps to Inclusive. Tech Mahindra describes itself as intentionally diverse. Give an example of working in a mixed team and how you made sure everyone was heard.
11. Are you willing to relocate or work in shifts?
Answer honestly. If you have limits, say so clearly now; agreeing to something you can't do causes problems at joining.
12. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Choose a strength that the role needs and back it with an example. For a weakness, pick something real and show what you're doing about it.
13. Do you have any questions for us?
Ask about the team or project you'd join, the training for new joiners or what success looks like in the first months.

Practising realistic work tasks
Interviews reward prepared stories, and technical rounds reward clear thinking on real problems, which improves with practice. Cohesyve, which publishes this guide, runs practice job simulations for your role, with a scored report on where you lost marks. It isn't affiliated with Tech Mahindra and doesn't use Tech Mahindra's tests or questions.
