Capgemini Interview Questions and Hiring Process

The short answer

Capgemini India hires in four steps: apply online, screening, an interview process (HR screening, online assessments where the role needs them, one or two technical interviews and an HR behavioural interview), then an offer and onboarding. Freshers take an online aptitude test and a coding or technical assessment first. Prepare to explain your projects and technical basics, and to show how you fit Capgemini’s seven values.

  • Capgemini says the process typically takes a few weeks, depending on the role.
  • Fresher tests cover logical reasoning, verbal ability, quantitative skills and coding. Capgemini doesn’t publish question counts or cut-offs.
  • In India, interview invitations come only through Capgemini’s own recruiting system, with Microsoft Teams links for virtual interviews, never from a personal email.
  • Capgemini says it never charges fees at any stage of hiring.

Cohesyve, which publishes this guide, runs practice job simulations with a scored report on where you lost marks. Cohesyve isn’t affiliated with Capgemini and doesn’t use Capgemini’s tests or questions.

Capgemini interviews candidates in rounds: an HR screening, one or two technical interviews and an HR behavioural interview, with online assessments for roles that need them. Freshers start with an online aptitude test and a coding or technical assessment.

The process details below come from Capgemini India's careers pages, linked as we go. Where Capgemini doesn't say something, we say so. The interview questions are ones to prepare for; Capgemini doesn't publish its questions.

What is the Capgemini hiring process?

You apply online, Capgemini screens your application and matches you to open roles, you go through the interview rounds, and you receive an offer if you're selected. Capgemini sets this out on its India recruitment process page.

Applying

  • Apply through the careers site. Capgemini lists all its India jobs in its job search, and says you can also ask employees you know about referrals.
  • A CV is mandatory; a cover letter is optional. Capgemini's interview tips ask for a tidy, concise CV that shows the impact you had in past roles, with your LinkedIn profile.
  • You can apply for more than one role, though Capgemini suggests choosing the one that best fits your interests and skills first. Your CV stays in its database.
  • Graduates apply through the students and graduates section, which has Technical Graduates and Management Graduates tracks.

Screening and position mapping

Capgemini reviews your application and checks how your skills match its open positions. If anything needs clarifying, a recruiter may call you for a short discussion. You can follow your status through the candidate application login.

What is the Capgemini online assessment?

Capgemini says its interview process may include proctored online technical and language assessments, where applicable. For freshers, its recruitment FAQ lists:

Fresher stageWhat Capgemini says it covers
Online aptitude testLogical reasoning, verbal ability and quantitative skills
Coding or technical assessmentProgramming and problem-solving
Group discussion (select roles only)Communication, teamwork and analysis
Technical interviewDomain knowledge and practical application
HR interviewBehaviour, career aspirations and company fit

Capgemini doesn't publish the number of questions, the time allowed, the cut-offs or which test platform it uses. Prep sites describe game-style aptitude sections and pseudocode questions, but Capgemini's own pages don't mention them, so treat those formats as unconfirmed and check the instructions in your test invitation.

A few points apply to any proctored online test:

  • Sit it somewhere quiet with a stable connection, in one go.
  • Read the instructions first, including what the proctoring allows on screen.
  • Practise timed aptitude questions in all three areas, so the pace isn't a surprise.

What is the Capgemini interview process?

Capgemini's interview process has an HR screening, one or two technical interviews, and an HR behavioural interview after a successful technical round. Its interview tips page adds that the number of rounds and the assessment types vary with your experience level and the role. Your interviewer explains the steps in advance.

The HR screening

This first round is a video call or a phone interview. Capgemini doesn't list what it covers. Be ready to summarise your background, say why you applied for this role, and give your availability and preferred location.

The technical interview

There may be one or two technical interviews, by video or in person. Capgemini says video interviews may be recorded, and that it asks for your consent first. Prepare to explain your projects in depth and answer questions on the skills in the job description.

The HR behavioural interview

Once you pass the technical round, Capgemini schedules a formal HR behavioural interview. Its interview tips advise you to talk about your achievements, challenges and lessons learned. Use real examples and the STAR method.

Capgemini India's tips describe two interview stages: after the first, you may be invited to a second interview or go straight to an offer, depending on the role. If you're not selected at either stage, Capgemini says your recruiter gives you feedback.

What happens after the Capgemini interview?

After the interviews, Capgemini lists these steps:

  1. Documentation. You submit your details and documents through the candidate portal.
  2. Compensation discussion. Your recruiter sets up a meeting once validations are complete.
  3. Offer. The recruiter extends a formal offer, which you accept through the candidate portal.
  4. Background verification starts after you accept, and the recruiting team keeps you updated until your start date.

How to spot a fake Capgemini offer

  • All interview communication comes through Capgemini's official system, with Microsoft Teams invites for virtual interviews. Capgemini says it doesn't use any other platform for interviews.
  • Recruiters email from @capgemini.com, @sogeti.com or @frog.co. Capgemini's fraud alert warns that emails from Gmail or Yahoo may be fraudulent.
  • Capgemini never charges fees at any stage of hiring.
  • Report suspicious invites from a personal email to the Interview Helpdesk at cg_interview_helpdesk.in@capgemini.com instead of replying.

Common Capgemini interview questions and how to answer them

These are questions to prepare for across the rounds. Capgemini publishes seven values: Honesty, Boldness, Trust, Freedom, Fun, Modesty and Team Spirit. Its interview tips also ask you to research its services, recent news and culture. Several answers below draw on both.

1. Tell me about yourself.

Capgemini calls the interview the place to talk about yourself. Give a one-minute version: your degree or current role, one achievement with its impact, and why this role at Capgemini. End on the role so the interviewer has an easy next question.

2. Walk me through a project you worked on.

Capgemini's interview tips ask you to show the impact you had in past roles, so explain the problem, your part, the technology and the result it made. Expect follow-up questions on every tool you name, so mention only what you can explain in depth.

3. Which programming language are you strongest in?

Pick the language you used in your coding assessment or your main project. Be ready for basics: data types, loops, functions, object-oriented ideas and how you'd find a bug.

4. Explain a concept from your core subjects.

Revise databases, operating systems, networks and object-oriented programming. Explain one idea simply with an example, and say so if you don't know something. That fits Honesty, the first of Capgemini's values.

5. Why do you want to join Capgemini?

Be specific. Name a Capgemini service, a client industry or a recent piece of Capgemini news that interests you, and link it to the work you want to do. Capgemini's own tips tell you to research these, so a vague answer stands out.

6. Tell me about a time you worked in a team that was under pressure.

Use STAR. Show how you shared the load and helped someone else, which is what Capgemini means by Team Spirit.

7. Tell me about a decision you made without having all the information.

Describe the risk, why you decided, and how you checked the result. Capgemini's value of Boldness pairs calculated risk with prudence, so show both.

8. Tell me about a mistake you made.

Capgemini's interview tips ask you to talk about challenges and lessons learned. Choose a real, small mistake, own it, and explain what you fixed and what you changed afterwards. Owning it without blaming others fits Honesty.

9. How do you explain a technical idea to someone who isn't technical?

Give an example where you simplified something for a client, a teacher or a teammate. Modesty in Capgemini's values includes communicating clearly and being approachable.

10. How do you learn a new technology quickly?

Give a recent, concrete example: what you learnt, how and what you built with it. Consulting projects change, so show you can pick things up without waiting to be taught.

11. Are you willing to relocate, work in shifts or work from the office?

Answer honestly and explain any constraint. Capgemini India offers hybrid work arranged with your manager, but your role and project decide the details, so ask rather than assume.

12. Where do you see yourself in a few years?

Talk about the skills you want to build and the kind of client work you'd like to lead at Capgemini. Avoid naming a job you'd need to leave to reach.

13. Do you have any questions for us?

Capgemini's tips tell you to prepare a list. Ask about the team, the kind of projects new joiners work on, or the training in your first months.

How to prepare for the Capgemini interview

  1. Read the job description and match your CV to it. Keep the CV concise and show impact.
  2. Practise timed aptitude questions in logical reasoning, verbal ability and quantitative skills.
  3. Revise one programming language thoroughly and the basics of your core subjects for the coding assessment and technical interview.
  4. Rehearse your project explanation out loud in two minutes.
  5. Prepare four or five STAR stories on teamwork, a mistake, a decision and learning something fast. Our list of behavioural interview questions gives you more to practise on, and a mock interview helps you hear how you sound.
  6. Read Capgemini's values and one recent news story, so your "Why Capgemini?" answer is specific.
  7. Test your setup for Microsoft Teams before a virtual interview.
  8. Ignore anyone asking for money or contacting you from a personal email.

Practising realistic work tasks

The coding assessment and the technical interview reward people who can solve problems under time pressure, and that improves with practice on realistic tasks. Cohesyve, which publishes this guide, runs practice job simulations for your role, with a scored report on where you lost marks. It isn't affiliated with Capgemini and doesn't use Capgemini's tests or questions.
