Sodexo Hiring Process 2026: Steps and Interview Questions

The short answer

Sodexo has two hiring tracks. For hourly jobs you chat with DEXI, Sodexo’s AI assistant, which checks your experience, schedules a phone or video interview and handles your paperwork. For salaried jobs you apply with a profile, a recruiter calls you, and you interview with the hiring manager or a panel, sometimes with a culinary demo or client meeting. Sodexo doesn’t publish a timeline.

  • Text DEXIJOBS to 43394 to start an hourly application by text.
  • Some hourly roles add more interviews, including on-site ones.
  • Chef roles may include a skills test, which Sodexo calls a chef–culinary demo.
  • Sodexo warns of fake recruiters making job offers, so check who contacts you.

Sodexo's hiring process depends on whether the job is hourly or salaried. Hourly (frontline) applicants go through DEXI, a conversational AI assistant that asks about your experience, schedules your interview and handles onboarding paperwork. Salaried (management) applicants create a profile, get a call from a recruiter and interview with the hiring manager or a panel.

Everything below comes from Sodexo USA's own hiring process page and careers pages, checked 27 October 2026. Where Sodexo doesn't say something, we say so.

What is the Sodexo hiring process for hourly jobs?

You search for a role or text DEXI, answer its questions, interview by phone or video, accept an offer and complete your paperwork through DEXI.

  • Start by text if you like. Sodexo says you can text DEXIJOBS to 43394 to hear about jobs in your area. Texting opts you in to hiring messages; text STOP to cancel.
  • DEXI screens first. After you pick a role, "DEXI will ask a series of questions to learn more about you and your experience." If you meet the minimum qualifications, it works with you to schedule an interview and helps you finish the remaining application steps.
  • Answer DEXI accurately. It decides whether you meet the minimum qualifications, so give your real experience.

What is the Sodexo hiring process for salaried jobs?

You create a profile, Sodexo checks your resume against the requirements, and if there's a fit "a Sodexo recruiter will reach out to schedule a phone call." Then come the interviews and, for some roles, extra steps.

  • Search by business segment as well as location and function. Sodexo works across food services, facilities management, healthcare, higher education, K–12 schools, senior living, government, business and industry, energy and resources, and Sodexo Live!.
  • Match your resume to the posting. Recruiters screen for the required qualifications before they call.

What is the Sodexo interview like?

For hourly jobs, Sodexo says interviews are "typically conducted over the phone or through a video call", and some roles need more interviews, which may be by phone, video or on-site. For salaried jobs, you have a one-on-one interview with the hiring manager or a panel, and depending on the role you may face more interviews, skills tests and client meetings.

Sodexo doesn't publish interview length or the questions it asks. It does suggest asking your recruiter about the process for your role, and it links an Interview Preparation Guide from its hiring page.

Does Sodexo have an assessment or skills test?

Some salaried roles do. Sodexo lists "skills tests (aka chef–culinary demo)" as a possible step, so chef and culinary candidates may be asked to cook. Sodexo doesn't publish what the demo involves, so ask the recruiter what to prepare, what equipment you'll have and who will taste the food. It doesn't mention online aptitude tests.

How long does the Sodexo hiring process take?

Sodexo doesn't publish a timeline for any stage. DEXI handles interview scheduling for hourly roles. For salaried roles, ask your recruiter after the first call.

What happens after the Sodexo interview?

If you're selected for an hourly job, you accept a formal offer from the hiring manager or another team member, then complete paperwork such as medical release forms and pre-onboarding forms through DEXI. Once everything is done, you get a welcome letter with first-day instructions, new-hire information and benefits details if you're eligible.

For salaried jobs, you get a verbal offer first. After you accept, the formal offer letter and onboarding paperwork arrive via DocuSign in the candidate portal. Before your start date your hiring manager contacts you about your first day, equipment, orientation and location.

Common Sodexo interview questions

Sodexo doesn't publish its questions. These are the ones its process and values point to, with how to answer each for Sodexo. Use the STAR method for the "tell me about a time" questions, and our list of behavioural interview questions for more practice.

1. Why do you want to work at Sodexo?

Link your answer to the setting you're applying for: patients in a hospital, students on a campus, fans at a stadium. Sodexo's purpose is improving people's quality of life, so say how this job does that.

2. Tell me about a time you gave great service to a customer.

This is Service Spirit. Pick a moment where you went beyond the task, and say what difference it made to the person.

3. Tell me about a time you dealt with an unhappy customer.

Show that you listened, fixed what you could and kept calm. In a hospital or school, the "customer" may be a patient, a parent or a client contact.

4. How do you keep food safe during a busy service?

Sodexo writes about its food safety culture. Talk about handwashing, temperatures, labelling, allergens and not cutting corners when it's busy.

5. Tell me about a time you helped a teammate.

This is Team Spirit. Describe stepping in when a colleague was overloaded, and how the shift went better for it.

6. Tell me about a time you suggested a better way of doing something.

This is Spirit of Progress. Give a small, real improvement: a prep order, a cleaning routine, less food waste.

7. What would you do if you saw a colleague breaking a safety or hygiene rule?

Integrity is one of Sodexo's ethical principles. Explain that you'd address it, follow the procedure and report it if needed, while staying respectful.

8. What is your availability?

Hourly roles depend on shifts. Be honest and specific.

9. For chef roles: walk me through a dish you'd cook for this site.

Prepare for a possible culinary demo. Think about the people you'd be cooking for, food cost, dietary needs and how the dish holds up at volume.

10. For managers: how would you work with the client at this site?

Some salaried roles include client meetings. Talk about regular check-ins, listening to the client's goals and reporting problems early.

11. For managers: tell me about a team you led through a difficult period.

Show how you kept people informed, supported them and still delivered service and safety standards.

12. Do you have any questions for us?

Ask about training, the site's busiest periods and what a good first month looks like.
