LongHorn Steakhouse interviews centre on what its careers pages say matter: serving guests well, working as a team, a passion for great steak and being available for the shifts the restaurant needs. You apply online at jobs.longhornsteakhouse.com, LongHorn's careers site.

LongHorn doesn't publish its interview questions, so the questions below are the topics its own pages and Darden's point to, with how to answer each one.

How long does the LongHorn Steakhouse hiring process take?
LongHorn doesn't publish a timeline, and it can vary by restaurant. If you haven't heard back after applying, it's reasonable to call or visit the restaurant outside the lunch and dinner rush and ask for the manager.
What does LongHorn Steakhouse look for?
LongHorn's Who We Are page talks about teamwork, a shared passion for great steak and wanting team members to "feel valued, listened to and appreciated." It also stresses growth: LongHorn says 99% of its Managing Partners were promoted from within, and that you can move to other Darden brands.
Darden's own core values include Being of Service, Teamwork, Respect & Caring, Excellence, and Always Learning, Always Teaching. Its restaurant careers page adds five "Winning Behaviors":
| Winning Behavior | What Darden says it looks like |
|---|---|
| Get Better Every Day | Take initiative, set challenging goals and learn from every shift |
| Grow Individuals & Teams | Recognise people's strengths and help others do their best |
| Simplify | Explain things clearly and offer practical solutions |
| Develop Relationships | Connect with guests and team members, and build trust |
| Own It | Take responsibility for your results and correct course quickly |
Use these as a checklist for your stories. Every answer you give should show at least one of them.
Common LongHorn Steakhouse interview questions and how to answer them
LongHorn doesn't publish its interview questions. These are the topics its pages and Darden's point to. Answer "tell me about a time" questions in STAR form (situation, task, action, result); our STAR method guide shows how.
1. Why do you want to work at LongHorn Steakhouse?
Be specific. Mention the restaurant you're applying to, what you like about LongHorn's food or atmosphere, and what you want to learn. If you want to grow, say so: LongHorn says almost all its Managing Partners started lower down.
2. What is your availability?
LongHorn says it lets team members schedule shifts around their lives, but restaurants still need people for evenings, weekends and busy holidays. Give your real availability and don't promise shifts you can't work.
3. Tell me about a time you gave a guest great service.
This is Darden's Being of Service value. Describe what the guest needed, what you did beyond the basics and how they responded.
4. How would you handle a guest whose steak came out wrong? (server and host roles)
Steak quality is central to LongHorn. Say you'd apologise, listen to exactly what they wanted, take it straight to the kitchen, keep the guest informed and involve a manager if needed. That shows Own It and Develop Relationships.
5. Tell me about a time you worked as part of a team during a rush.
Teamwork is a Darden value and runs through LongHorn's pages. Pick an example where you helped a teammate, covered a task or communicated clearly so the shift kept moving.
6. How do you make sure orders are accurate? (servers, bartenders, To Go specialists)
Talk about repeating orders back, checking temperatures and sides before food leaves, and checking To Go bags against the ticket.
7. How do you keep food safe and consistent on the line? (line cooks)
Talk about following recipes and cooking temperatures exactly, keeping raw and cooked food apart, labelling and dating, and telling the manager about anything that's off. Mention any grill experience you have; LongHorn's careers pages celebrate its grill cooks.
8. How do you stay organised when the restaurant is busy?
This fits Simplify. Describe how you prioritise tables or tickets, keep your station stocked and ask for help early.
9. Tell me about a time you learned something new quickly.
Darden values Always Learning, Always Teaching, and Get Better Every Day is a Winning Behavior. Pick a time you learned a menu, a system or a skill fast, and how you practised.
10. Tell me about a mistake you made at work and what you did about it.
This is Own It. Say what went wrong, how you fixed it, who you told and what you do differently now.
11. How would you handle a disagreement with a co-worker?
Show Respect & Caring: talk privately, listen, focus on the guest and the shift, and bring in a manager if you can't sort it out.
12. How would you develop a new server who's struggling? (management roles)
Management roles train and lead the team. Describe watching them on a shift, giving specific feedback, pairing them with a strong server and checking back. That's Grow Individuals & Teams.
13. Do you have any questions for us?
Ask how training works for your role, how shifts are scheduled, and what moving up looks like at that restaurant.

Practising realistic work tasks
Interviews reward prepared stories. Assessments reward judgement, and that improves with practice on realistic tasks. Cohesyve, which publishes this guide, runs practice job simulations for your role, with a scored report on where you lost marks. It isn't affiliated with LongHorn Steakhouse and doesn't use LongHorn's assessments or questions.
