Labcorp hires through its careers site: you create an account, apply with pre-screening questions, complete any screening questionnaire or skills assessment, and a recruiter reviews your application. If a hiring manager decides your skills match, Labcorp contacts you for further screening. Expect questions on what its postings ask for: patient service, accuracy and working independently.
Everything below comes from Labcorp's careers FAQ, its careers site and its own job postings, linked as we go. Labcorp doesn't publish its interview questions, so the ones further down are the topics its postings point to, with how to answer each.

What is the Labcorp hiring process?
You apply online, Labcorp's Human Resources staff review your application, and a hiring manager decides whether to take you forward to further screening. Labcorp's careers FAQ describes these steps; it doesn't describe what happens after the hiring manager makes contact.
How to apply
- Create your account first. Labcorp says your application "begins when you create an account for yourself that is similar to a resume". It holds your personal, work and education details, what you're looking for, and general questions Labcorp asks every applicant.
- Link it to a job. Find a role on careers.labcorp.com and click Apply. You'll answer pre-screening questions for that job before you submit.
- No separate resume needed. Labcorp says you don't need to email, fax or post a resume or cover letter unless asked, because everything it needs is in the online application.
- Apply for several roles. Labcorp encourages you to apply for any position you're qualified for. Your details are saved for future applications.
- Set up alerts. The "Notify Me" option, or Labcorp's Talent Network, tells you about new openings.
Labcorp says its system can "automatically match candidates to the requirements of the position". Keep your work history complete and use the same terms as the posting where they're true for you, such as phlebotomy certification, accessioning or data entry.
Labcorp's job families include phlebotomy, lab operations, customer support (call centres), IT, research and development, and business development, plus internships and early-career programmes for students and graduates.

Does Labcorp have an assessment?
Some roles do. Labcorp's FAQ refers to "screening questionnaires and skills assessments" and says they "cannot be edited once they are completed". It also says: "Unless otherwise noted, they are not timed tests, so please take your time to think about your answers before completing the questions."
Labcorp doesn't publish what its skills assessments contain or how they're scored. If you're given workplace scenarios and asked what you'd do, that's a situational judgement format; our guide to situational judgement tests explains how it works.
The phlebotomist and specimen processor postings we checked also require you to be "Able to pass a standardized color blindness test". Expect this check if you apply for a patient service or processing role.
What is the Labcorp interview process like?
If a hiring manager decides your skills match the job, Labcorp contacts you "for further screening and consideration". Labcorp doesn't publish the interview format, how long it lasts or how many rounds there are. Ask the recruiter who you'll meet and how long to allow.
What Labcorp does publish is what each job needs. A Labcorp Phlebotomist posting (New York, NY, req 2630671, checked 27 October 2026, since closed) listed:
- blood collection by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups;
- collecting specimens for drug screens, paternity tests and alcohol tests;
- accurate, timely data entry, billing and payments;
- "superior customer service to all patients";
- a high school diploma or GED, plus a phlebotomy certification, a completed training programme or at least three months' experience as a phlebotomist.
The posting says a phlebotomist works in a Patient Service Center or client office and will "be the face of the company". It also asks for strong communication, comfort working under minimal supervision, reliable transport and flexibility for overtime.
A Specimen Processor I posting (Winston Salem, NC, req 2632989, checked 27 October 2026, since closed) described "a fast-paced, high-throughput environment": preparing, labelling, routing and shipping specimens, data entry, and resolving problem specimens. It asks for a high school diploma or GED, comfort handling biological specimens, a "High level of attention to detail", MS Office and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
How long does the Labcorp hiring process take?
Labcorp doesn't publish a timeline. It does say the application itself takes about 10 to 20 minutes, that you'll get an email acknowledgement once it's received, and that you'll be contacted if a hiring manager decides your skills match. If you're not chosen, you're emailed automatically once the job is filled.
Common Labcorp interview questions and how to answer them
These questions follow Labcorp's postings for phlebotomy and lab roles and its stated mission. Answer the "tell me about a time" ones in STAR form (situation, task, action, result); our STAR method guide shows how.
1. Why do you want to work at Labcorp?
Labcorp's postings invite you to "Join us in our mission to improve health and improve lives." The phlebotomist posting says: "If you are passionate about helping people and have a drive for service, then Labcorp could be a great next career step!" Connect your answer to that: what you like about patient care or lab work, and why accurate test results matter to you.
2. Tell me about a time you gave a patient or customer excellent service.
The phlebotomist posting asks for a "Proven track record in providing exceptional customer service" and says you'll be the face of the company. Pick an example where you put someone at ease or solved their problem, and say what happened.
3. How would you calm a patient who is nervous about having blood drawn?
Show that you'd explain what will happen, speak calmly, check whether they've had problems before and follow your training and site procedures. If you have a real example from training or work, use it.
4. How do you make sure every specimen is labelled correctly?
Accuracy is at the heart of both postings. The specimen processor role asks you to "Accurately identify and label specimens". Walk through your habits: confirming patient identity, labelling at the point of collection, checking the request form against the label, and stopping to resolve anything that doesn't match.
5. Tell me about a time you caught a mistake before it caused a problem.
The specimen processor posting asks for a "High level of attention to detail" and for resolving and documenting problem specimens. Choose an example where checking your own or someone else's work made a difference.
6. Tell me about a time you worked with little or no supervision.
The phlebotomist posting asks for someone "Comfortable working under minimal supervision". Talk about a time you organised your own day, made a sensible decision and knew when to ask for help.
7. How do you handle a busy period with a queue of patients or a high volume of specimens?
The processing role is "fast-paced, high-throughput" with production goals. Explain how you prioritise, keep accuracy up while working fast, and communicate with the team when the workload changes.
8. How accurate and fast is your data entry?
Both postings include entering patient information "in an accurate and timely manner". Mention the systems you've used and how you check entries. For processing roles, mention your MS Office experience.
9. Are you comfortable handling blood and other biological specimens?
The specimen processor posting lists "Comfortable handling biological specimens". Answer honestly and mention any training in safe handling or infection control.
10. Can you work overtime or travel to other sites?
The phlebotomist posting asks for "Flexibility to work overtime as needed" and the ability to "Travel to additional sites when needed", with reliable transport. Be clear and honest about what you can do.
11. Tell me about a time you worked well in a team.
Both postings mention teamwork, and Labcorp's careers site describes a "culture of teamwork". Pick an example where you helped colleagues hit a shared goal and be clear about your part.
12. Where do you see your career going?
Labcorp's phlebotomist posting promises "opportunities for continuous growth within the organization", and its careers site encourages moving across the business. Name a realistic next step, such as more senior patient service, lab or supervisory work.

How to prepare for a Labcorp interview
- Complete your account fully before applying, with all work and education details, since Labcorp matches applications to the job's requirements.
- Take your time on screening questions and assessments. They can't be edited afterwards and aren't timed unless noted.
- Have your certificates to hand, such as a phlebotomy certification or training programme record, if the role requires them.
- Prepare four or five STAR stories on patient service, accuracy, catching errors, independent work and teamwork. Practise them out loud, ideally in a mock interview.
- Know your availability, including overtime, and how you'll travel to other sites if asked.
- Bring two or three questions about training, the site's workload and how people progress.
If you need an accommodation to search or apply for jobs, Labcorp's postings direct you to its accessibility site or Disability_apply@LabCorp.com.
Practising realistic work tasks
Interviews reward prepared stories. Lab and patient service work rewards accuracy under time pressure, which improves with practice on realistic tasks. Cohesyve, which publishes this guide, runs practice job simulations for your role, with a scored report on where you lost marks. It isn't affiliated with Labcorp and doesn't use Labcorp's assessments or questions.
