Frito-Lay Interview Questions and Hiring Process (2026)

The short answer

Frito-Lay jobs are now listed on PepsiCo’s careers site, pepsicojobs.com. For US hourly roles, PepsiCo reviews your application answers and assessment results, invites you to a virtual or onsite interview, makes an offer and then runs a background check that differs by role. Interviewers ask how your past experience prepared you for the job, and PepsiCo asks for real examples of its five GREAT5 principles.

  • fritolayemployment.com now redirects to pepsicojobs.com. US snack roles appear there with titles like “Route Sales Associate - Foods”.
  • For US hourly jobs, PepsiCo’s askpep chat assistant can help you apply and check your status.
  • GREAT5 stands for Growth, Relationships, Execution, Agility and Thinking. Prepare one story for each.
  • PepsiCo doesn’t publish what its assessment contains, how long the process takes or a pass mark.

Frito-Lay is part of PepsiCo, and its jobs are now listed and applied for on PepsiCo's careers site. When we checked on 27 October 2026, every page of fritolayemployment.com redirected to pepsicojobs.com. For US hourly roles, PepsiCo's Applicant Help page describes the process as an application with an assessment, an interview, an offer and pre-employment checks.

Everything below about the process comes from PepsiCo's own careers pages and job postings, linked as we go. Where PepsiCo doesn't say something, we say so rather than guess. The interview questions further down are ones to prepare for, built from what PepsiCo says it looks for and from its own job descriptions.

What is the Frito-Lay hiring process?

For US hourly jobs, you apply online, PepsiCo reviews your answers and any assessment, and if you match the role you're invited to interview. An offer and a role-dependent background check follow. This is the path PepsiCo publishes for its US hourly jobs, which it groups into three areas:

  • Manufacturing and warehouse: quality control, operations, production and maintenance.
  • Distribution and delivery: loaders, drivers and fleet technicians.
  • Sales and merchandising: route sales and merchandising.

Corporate and other professional roles follow a different path, which PepsiCo lists as application review, a short phone or video call with a recruiter, one or more interviews with the hiring team, and a decision.

How do you apply for a job at Frito-Lay?

Apply through pepsicojobs.com. PepsiCo's fraud notice names fritolayemployment.com as one of its official careers sites, and that address now forwards there. A few things to know:

  • Search by role and location. The US snack postings we checked carry PepsiCo titles ending in "- Foods", such as Route Sales Associate, Merchandiser and Part-Time Packer. The merchandiser posting describes the work as retrieving Frito-Lay products and merchandising them in stores.
  • Read the minimum qualifications. The route sales associate posting asks for applicants aged 21 or older with a valid driver's licence and proof of insurance. The merchandiser, packer and maintenance postings ask for 18 or older. Most list physical requirements such as lifting.
  • Check the schedule. Postings state work days and start times. The route sales posting starts between 2am and 4am, and the packer posting requires weekends, holidays and off shifts.
  • Use askpep for hourly roles. PepsiCo says its virtual recruiting assistant can help you apply for US hourly jobs in manufacturing, transportation or route sales, and check your status. askpep is an automated assistant, not a person.

Does Frito-Lay have an assessment?

For US hourly roles, yes. PepsiCo says it reviews "your application responses and assessment results against the role" before contacting you. It doesn't publish what the assessment covers, how long it takes, how it's scored or whether you can retake it.

Treat question counts and sample tests on prep sites as unconfirmed. If your assessment shows you workplace scenarios and asks what you would do, it's a situational judgement format, and our guide to situational judgement tests explains how that format works in general. Whatever the format:

  • Do it somewhere quiet with a steady connection.
  • Answer as you would actually work. PepsiCo publishes no answer key.
  • Keep safety and quality in mind. PepsiCo lists "paying attention to safety and quality" among the skills that matter most in its hourly roles.

What is the Frito-Lay interview like?

PepsiCo says that, depending on the role, you may be invited to a virtual or onsite interview with the recruitment and/or hiring team. They'll share more about the job and ask how your previous experience has prepared you for it. PepsiCo doesn't publish interview length or the number of rounds, so ask when you're invited.

PepsiCo's interview advice centres on its GREAT5 leadership principles, which it says apply "no matter your role", and it says interviewers will ask for real examples of them:

GREAT5 principleWhat PepsiCo says it means
GrowthCuriosity and learning from new situations, and helping others learn
RelationshipsBuilding trust across teams, with integrity, transparency and respect
ExecutionThe energy to motivate others and reach ambitious goals; simplifying complexity to get quality results
AgilityAdapting to change, managing pressure and championing change
ThinkingUsing outside insight, thinking creatively and taking a long-term view

For hourly roles, PepsiCo also lists what matters most: showing up and doing your part, working well with others and stepping in when needed, paying attention to safety and quality, and being open to learning.

Many PepsiCo interviews are virtual. PepsiCo's own checklist: test your camera, audio and internet connection beforehand, find a quiet, well-lit space, dress as you would in person, and keep the job description and your notes nearby.

What happens after the Frito-Lay interview?

If you're selected, you receive an offer, then complete pre-employment checks. PepsiCo says "background checks differ by role" and that you'll get detailed instructions on what to do. After that, your new team leaders contact you with what you need for your first day.

PepsiCo doesn't publish how long any step takes. To check your status for a US hourly job, open the askpep chat on pepsicojobs.com. For other roles, use the portal you applied through.

Frito-Lay interview questions to prepare for

PepsiCo doesn't publish its interview questions. These are the questions to prepare for, based on GREAT5, the skills PepsiCo lists for hourly roles and the duties in its own job postings. For "tell me about a time" questions, use the STAR method (situation, task, action, result).

1. How has your previous experience prepared you for this role?

PepsiCo says this is what hourly interviews ask about, so expect it. Pick two or three things from the posting, such as early starts, lifting, driving or working with store staff, and match each to something you've done. Keep it specific.

2. Why do you want to work at Frito-Lay?

Give a real reason. PepsiCo's hourly careers page talks about on-the-job training, certifications and paths into specialist or team lead roles. If one of those appeals to you, say so, and link it to the job you applied for.

3. Tell me about a time you had to learn something new quickly.

This is the Growth principle. Choose a time you picked up a new task, tool or route under some pressure. Say how you learned it, whom you asked and how soon you were working without help.

4. Tell me about a time you built trust with a customer or colleague.

This is Relationships. The route sales posting asks you to build trusted relationships with store managers, so a customer example fits well. Show that you kept your word, were honest when something went wrong and treated people with respect.

5. Tell me about a time you reached a demanding goal.

This is Execution. Use an example with a clear target, such as finishing a delivery run, a stock count or a production quota. Explain what made it hard and what you did to get it done without cutting corners.

6. Tell me about a time your plans changed at the last minute.

This is Agility. A missed delivery, a broken machine or a colleague calling in sick all work. Show that you stayed calm, re-planned and told the people affected.

7. Tell me about a time you suggested a better way of doing something.

This is Thinking. A small, practical improvement is enough: a faster way to load a truck, a clearer shelf layout or a simpler checklist. Say what you noticed, what you suggested and what changed.

8. How do you keep safety and quality up when the work is fast-paced?

PepsiCo names safety and quality among the skills that matter most, and its postings describe fast-paced, physical work. Talk about following procedures when you're busy, reporting hazards and checking your own work. The packer posting includes regular quality checks.

9. Tell me about a time you stepped in to help a teammate.

PepsiCo lists "stepping up or in when needed" among its hourly skills. Describe a time you covered a task or a shift, or helped someone who was behind, and what it meant for the team.

10. Can you work the hours this job needs?

Answer honestly. The postings we checked list early starts, weekends, holidays and off shifts depending on the role, and the merchandiser posting describes a consistent schedule with chances to move to different schedules over time. Only commit to hours you can actually work.

11. A store manager won't give you the display space you need. What do you do?

This fits route sales and merchandising, where the posting asks you to secure displays and grow sales. Say you would listen to the manager's concerns, explain how the display would help their store, offer a compromise and follow up. Show that you'd keep the relationship good either way.

12. What questions do you have for us?

PepsiCo calls interviews "a two-way conversation" and suggests asking about the role, the team, the culture and growth. Good options: what training looks like in the first weeks, how schedules are set, and what the best people in the role do differently.

How to prepare for a Frito-Lay interview

  1. Read the posting closely. Note the minimum qualifications, the schedule and the duties, and be ready to show you meet each one.
  2. Write five STAR stories, one for each GREAT5 principle. Most stories can be adapted to several questions.
  3. Add one story about safety and one about helping a teammate, since PepsiCo names both for hourly roles.
  4. Practise out loud, ideally in a mock interview with someone who'll give you honest feedback. Our list of behavioural interview questions gives you more to practise with.
  5. Set up for a virtual interview using PepsiCo's checklist: camera, audio, connection, a quiet space and your notes.
  6. Prepare two or three questions about training, schedules and growth.
