Siemens Interview Questions and Hiring Process

The short answer

Siemens hires in three steps: you register and apply on its job portal with your CV, you’re invited to interview if your experience matches, and successful candidates get an offer and onboarding. Some roles include a video interview with a deadline. Siemens doesn’t publish its interview questions, so prepare to talk about your technical experience, teamwork and why you want to work at Siemens.

  • Siemens says the process can take a little time depending on the role and region, and it can’t give individual status updates.
  • The practice video interview only tests your camera and microphone; it has no questions.
  • AI isn’t allowed during live interviews or assessments unless the task is an AI skill evaluation.
  • Siemens doesn’t publish the number of interview rounds or a timeline.

Cohesyve, which publishes this guide, runs practice job simulations with a scored report on where you lost marks. Cohesyve isn’t affiliated with Siemens and doesn’t use Siemens’s assessments or questions.

Siemens doesn't publish its interview questions. Prepare to talk about your experience for the role, teamwork and why Siemens. The process has three published steps: apply on the job portal, interview, then offer and onboarding. Some roles add a video interview with a deadline.

Everything about the process below comes from Siemens's own careers pages, linked as we go. Where Siemens doesn't say something, we say so.

The Siemens hiring process at a glance

How do you apply to Siemens?

Search the Siemens job portal by keyword, job title or skill, then register to apply. The FAQ covers the practical points:

  • You need an account to apply. You can register with a CV or with a professional network profile such as LinkedIn or Indeed.
  • You can apply for several roles at once. Each one needs its own application, and Siemens asks that your skills match each role you choose.
  • Documents: depending on the job, an up-to-date CV. Certifications and a cover letter are welcome. Files can be .doc, .docx, .pdf or .rtf, ideally under 10 MB.
  • CV matching: you can upload your CV without registering to get AI-powered job recommendations, labelled highly relevant, relevant or possibly relevant.
  • Changing your mind: you can edit or withdraw an application under "My Applications". You can't submit a new application for the same role, but Siemens technical support can reactivate a withdrawn one.

Germany's apprenticeship and dual study applications have their own site, linked from the FAQ.

Using AI in your application

Siemens's AI guideline for candidates welcomes AI for polishing your CV or cover letter, for grammar, proofreading and translation, and for researching Siemens and preparing for interviews. It doesn't allow AI-generated content that misrepresents your skills, AI use in live interviews or assessments unless the task is an AI skill evaluation, or anyone (or any AI) standing in for you. Siemens also says AI doesn't make any hiring decisions; those stay with recruiters and hiring managers.

What is the Siemens interview process?

Siemens says that if your experience matches what it's looking for, you'll be invited to an interview. It doesn't publish the number of rounds, who you'll meet or how long interviews last, and these vary by role and country. Ask your recruiter.

Siemens has published an interview guide video on its how to apply page, which it says explains "in concrete terms what we think makes an interview great". It also recommends reading its company presentation to prepare: the company's history, current facts and figures, and its view on the big questions of the day.

Does Siemens use video interviews?

Yes, for some roles. Siemens's FAQ describes a video interview with a completion deadline and a practice interview, which suggests a recorded (one-way) format:

QuestionWhat Siemens says
RemindersYou get a reminder email before the deadline, with the recruiter's contact details
ExtensionsNot generally offered. If you have a valid reason, contact the recruiter directly
Practice interviewOnly for testing your camera and microphone. It has no interview questions

Siemens doesn't publish how many questions there are or how long you get to answer. Our guide to one-way video interviews explains how this format usually works and how to set up for it.

Does Siemens have an online assessment?

Siemens refers to assessments in its AI rules, so some roles include one. It doesn't publish which roles use them, what they contain or how they're scored. Prep sites describe aptitude and technical rounds for campus hiring in India; Siemens's careers pages don't, so treat those details as unconfirmed and follow the instructions in your invitation.

What happens after the Siemens interview?

If you're successful, Siemens makes an offer and starts onboarding once the paperwork is complete. You can check your status at any time under "My Applications" on the job portal. Because of the volume of applications, Siemens says it can't give individual status updates, and the process can take a little time depending on the role and region.

Common Siemens interview questions and how to answer them

Siemens's careers pages describe its purpose as creating "technology to transform the everyday, for everyone". They also stress diverse perspectives and mutual respect ("Belonging Transforms"), continuous learning through its MyGrowth approach, and its DEGREE sustainability framework. The answers below draw on these.

1. Tell me about yourself.

Summarise your current role or studies, the experience most relevant to this job and why you're applying now. Keep it to a minute or two and end on the role.

2. Why Siemens?

Pick the business you're applying to and say what draws you to its work. Linking it to Siemens's purpose of technology that transforms the everyday works if you give a concrete example, such as a product, project or industry you want to work on.

3. Walk me through a technical project you're proud of.

Explain the problem, your part, the decisions you made and why, and the result. If you can, show the practical difference it made for the people using it, which fits Siemens's purpose of technology that transforms the everyday. Be ready for follow-up questions on anything you put on your CV.

4. Tell me about a time you solved a difficult problem.

Use the STAR method. Show how you found the cause, the options you weighed and what you did, with a measurable result if you have one. Siemens's AI guideline rules out content that misrepresents your skills, so pick a problem you solved yourself and be clear about your part.

5. Describe a time you worked in a team with people from different backgrounds or disciplines.

Siemens's FAQ says diverse teams drive innovation and better results. Show how different views improved the work and what you did to make sure everyone was heard.

6. Tell me about a time you had to learn something new quickly.

Siemens describes growth as a continuous journey. Give a specific example: what you had to learn, how you learned it and how you used it.

7. Describe a time you disagreed with a colleague or manager.

Explain the disagreement fairly, how you raised it, and how you reached a decision. Show respect for the other view; Siemens's careers pages describe a culture built on mutual respect.

8. Tell me about a time you made something more efficient or sustainable.

Siemens's DEGREE framework covers decarbonisation and resource efficiency. An example where you cut waste, energy, cost or time fits well, even from a student project.

9. How do you manage your time and priorities when you work remotely?

Siemens says two to three days a week of remote work tends to be the norm, and teams manage their own time and responsibilities. Show how you plan your work, stay in touch with your team and deliver without close supervision.

10. Tell me about a time you took ownership of a mistake.

Pick a real, contained example. Say what went wrong, what you did to fix it and what you changed afterwards. Siemens describes growth as a continuous journey, so end on what you learned.

11. How have you used AI or digital tools in your work?

Siemens calls itself a global leader in AI and encourages thoughtful use of AI in applications. Describe a tool you use, what it helps with and how you check its output.

12. Where do you see yourself developing at Siemens?

Siemens's MyGrowth approach covers learning, career development and regular conversations. Name skills you want to build in this role, rather than a job title you want in five years.

13. Do you have any questions for us?

Siemens's FAQ suggests asking about remote work in the interview. You could also ask what the team is working on now and what success looks like in the first few months.

How to prepare for a Siemens interview

  1. Watch Siemens's interview guide video on its how to apply page.
  2. Read the Siemens company presentation, which Siemens recommends for interview preparation, and the pages for the business you're applying to.
  3. Ask your recruiter about the format: how many interviews, whether there's a video interview or assessment, and who you'll meet.
  4. Prepare five or six STAR stories covering problem-solving, teamwork, learning and mistakes. Our list of behavioural interview questions gives you more to practise on.
  5. Revise the technical detail on your CV. Be ready to explain any project you list.
  6. For a video interview, use the practice interview to check your camera and microphone, and finish before the deadline.
  7. Do a mock interview with someone who will give you honest feedback.

Practising realistic work tasks

Siemens doesn't publish its interview content, so practising realistic tasks for your role helps. Cohesyve, which publishes this guide, runs practice job simulations for your role, with a scored report on where you lost marks. It isn't affiliated with Siemens and doesn't use Siemens's assessments or questions.
