Procter and Gamble Online Assessment and Hiring Process

The short answer

P&G’s online assessment is a mandatory step after you apply. Depending on the role, you take the Peak Performance Assessment (about 20 minutes, on your background, interests and work attitudes), Interactive Assessments of reasoning (about 30 minutes), or both. P&G aims to send results within 30 days, and if you don’t pass you wait 12 months to retake.

  • P&G hires in four steps: application, online assessment, behavioural interviews and an offer.
  • For most roles, your assessment results automatically decide whether your application moves forward, and you can ask for a human review.
  • Most interviews last 45 to 60 minutes and test how you relate to P&G’s Purpose, Values and Principles.
  • P&G asks you to do assessments and interviews on your own, without help from other people or AI.

Cohesyve, which publishes this guide, runs practice job simulations with a scored report on where you lost marks. Cohesyve isn’t affiliated with Procter & Gamble and doesn’t use P&G’s assessments or questions.

Procter & Gamble's online assessment comes straight after you apply, and P&G calls it "a mandatory part of the P&G application process". Depending on the role, you take the Peak Performance Assessment, the Interactive Assessments or both. Pass, and you move on to behavioural interviews.

Everything below comes from P&G's hiring process page, its assessment pages, its hiring FAQ and its "Interviewing at P&G" guide, linked as we go. Where P&G doesn't say something, we say so.

What is the Procter and Gamble hiring process?

You apply online, take the online assessment, interview, and receive an offer if you're successful. P&G emails you after each stage, and you can check progress through the Application Status link on pgcareers.com.

  • Resume required. Up to two attachments of 5MB each, in Word, text or PDF.
  • One application per role. P&G's hiring FAQ says each role needs a separate application, and you can't edit one after submitting it.
  • P&G never charges candidates. Legitimate P&G recruiting emails come from an @pg.com address, and genuine applications go through pgcareers.com.
  • Accommodations are available for the assessments and interviews through P&G's disability accommodation request.

What is the Procter and Gamble online assessment?

P&G uses two kinds of online assessment. Not every candidate takes both; it depends on the role.

AssessmentWhat P&G says it measuresLength
Peak Performance AssessmentYour background, experience, interests and work-related attitudes, against P&G's competenciesMost applicants need about 20 minutes
Interactive AssessmentsReasoning skills; aspects of cognitive abilityAbout 30 minutes in total

Across both, P&G says the assessments take 20 to 60 minutes, work on desktop and mobile, are available 24/7 in more than 20 languages, and have some timed sections. P&G also says it doesn't use AI in its online assessments, including to evaluate them.

The Peak Performance Assessment

P&G's Peak Performance Assessment page describes:

  • Four sections, each submitted separately. Once you submit a section, you can't go back.
  • Multiple-choice and sliding-scale rating questions. All are mandatory.
  • "There are no right or wrong answers." P&G asks you to make sure your answers accurately describe you and your interests.
  • Pause and resume with the same emailed link; completed sections are saved.

P&G also says it may verify your capability to solve these types of problems under supervised conditions, so answer as you would in a supervised setting. Our guide to psychometric assessments explains how self-report questionnaires like this generally work.

The Interactive Assessments

P&G's Interactive Assessments page describes three timed activities:

ActivityWhat you doTime
Equation gapsFill gaps in an equation using the numbers 1 to 9, each once; multiplication comes before addition and subtractionAbout 6 minutes
Logical branch selectionWork out which of three branches a set of symbols passed throughAbout 6 minutes
Dot recallRemember where and in what order dots appeared while judging mirrored, rotated or combined shapes in betweenThree rounds of about 4 minutes

Answers are final once given. Use only the on-screen arrows, because the browser's back, next or refresh buttons cause an error. If you're disconnected, the same link takes you to the next round after the last one you finished.

Results and retakes

  • Results within 30 days. P&G aims to tell you your results and next steps by email within 30 days.
  • Automated decisions, with human review. For most roles, results automatically decide whether your application moves forward. You can request a human review of that outcome; the hiring FAQ gives the address.
  • 12-month retake rule. If you don't pass, you must wait 12 months before retaking.
  • Results carry over. A passed or submitted result is valid for 12 months and applies to other P&G roles you apply for in that time.

What is the Procter and Gamble interview process?

P&G's interviews are behavioural. They can be one-on-one or with a panel of 2 to 3 people, and virtual (online or phone) or in person, depending on your country. Most last 45 to 60 minutes, with no strict time limit, and include time for your questions.

P&G's guide, Interviewing at P&G, says interviewers ask standardised questions about your past experiences and use your answers to assess your proficiency in its core competencies. It asks for complete answers with three parts:

  1. Context: enough background for the interviewer to understand the situation.
  2. Actions: everything relevant you did, and why you acted that way.
  3. Results: what came of your actions and how much impact they had.

Your examples can come from any part of life: school, work, volunteering, military service, clubs or organisations.

Some roles add steps. P&G says some Sales roles that require experience include a virtual job interview measuring work style, sales experience, problem-solving and cognitive ability.

What happens after the P&G interview?

P&G says you'll learn in the weeks after the interview whether you're moving forward. Some candidates receive an offer within a week and others wait much longer, depending on the role, its urgency and the number of applicants. P&G says the time between interview and offer doesn't indicate the outcome. New starters join the P&G+Me Onboarding Program.

Common Procter and Gamble interview questions and how to answer them

P&G's values are Integrity, Leadership, Ownership, Passion for Winning and Trust, set out in its Purpose, Values and Principles. Its interviews assess how you relate to them. Questions 1 to 3 are P&G's own examples; the rest are questions to prepare for.

1. Tell me about a time when you worked with others.

From P&G's interview guide. P&G says it wants people who collaborate internally to compete externally. Give the context, your part in the team, why you acted as you did, and the result.

2. Give an example of a time when you created something new.

Also from P&G's guide. Its principles include "Innovation is the Cornerstone of Our Success". Explain the problem, what you made or changed, and how much difference it made.

3. What would you do if you had a conflict with a team member?

An example from P&G's hiring process page. Back your answer with a real situation: how you listened, found common ground and kept the work moving. This maps to the principle "We Show Respect for All Individuals".

4. Tell me about a time you took the lead without being asked.

This tests Leadership. Choose a moment when you set direction or organised others, and give the outcome.

5. Tell me about a time you took responsibility for a result.

This tests Ownership. Show that you treated the outcome as yours, including fixing what went wrong.

6. Tell me about a time you did the right thing when it was difficult.

This tests Integrity. A real, modest example where you were honest or followed the rules under pressure works best.

7. Describe a time you set a demanding goal and achieved it.

This tests Passion for Winning. Explain why the goal was hard, how you planned, and the measurable result.

8. Tell me about a time you had to rely on someone else to get something done.

This tests Trust and the principle "Mutual Interdependency is a Way of Life". Show how you built the working relationship and followed through.

9. Tell me about a time you used what you learned about a customer or user to change your approach.

P&G's principles include "We Are Externally Focused", and its purpose is about improving consumers' lives. Describe what you learned and what you changed because of it.

10. Tell me about a time you had to prioritise several tasks with limited time.

P&G's principles include "We Are Strategically Focused in Our Work". Explain how you chose what mattered most and what you dropped or delegated.

11. Do you have any questions for us?

P&G says interviews are also your chance to learn about the company. Ask about the team's current challenges, how new joiners are developed, or what success looks like in the first year.

How to prepare for the P&G assessment and interview

  1. Set aside an uninterrupted hour for the assessments. The Peak Performance Assessment needs sustained concentration, and P&G says some sections of its assessments are timed.
  2. Answer the Peak Performance Assessment honestly. P&G says there are no right or wrong answers and may verify your capability under supervised conditions.
  3. Read the Interactive Assessments page before you start, so you know how each activity works.
  4. Prepare six to eight stories with context, actions and results, covering P&G's values and both example questions. The STAR method uses the same idea, and our list of behavioural interview questions gives you more to practise on.
  5. Use examples from anywhere in your life. P&G says school, work, volunteering and clubs all count.
  6. Do a mock interview with someone who will give you honest feedback.
  7. Do the real thing alone. P&G says help from other people or AI during assessments or interviews can lead to rejection.

Practising realistic work tasks

P&G's interviews look for evidence of how you've actually worked. Cohesyve, which publishes this guide, runs practice job simulations for your role, with a scored report on where you lost marks. It isn't affiliated with Procter & Gamble and doesn't use P&G's assessments or questions.

FAQs

How long is the P&G online assessment?

P&G says its assessments take 20 to 60 minutes. Most applicants need about 20 minutes for the Peak Performance Assessment and about 30 for the Interactive Assessments.

Can I retake the P&G assessment?

Yes, after 12 months. Results you've passed or submitted stay valid for 12 months and carry over to other P&G roles.

When will I hear back after the P&G assessment?

P&G aims to email your results and next steps within 30 days.

Does P&G use AI to decide who gets hired?

P&G says it doesn't use AI in its online assessments, including for evaluation. P&G doesn't publish a fixed number. It describes one-on-one and panel interviews, and some Sales roles add a virtual job interview.

Does P&G charge a fee to apply?

No. P&G says it never charges candidates for any part of recruiting, and legitimate emails come from an @pg.com address.
