Salesforce's interview process runs from an online application to virtual interviews on Google Meet and an on-site interview at a Salesforce office, which is required before any offer. Salesforce says its interviewers may ask behavioural, competency-based or situational questions, and that AI fluency is evaluated in every role.
The details below come from Salesforce's How we hire page, its careers page, its Futureforce early-careers page and two articles by its recruiting teams, linked as we go. Where Salesforce doesn't say something, we say so.
The Salesforce hiring process at a glance
| Stage | What happens | What Salesforce says about timing |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Explore and learn | Read about Salesforce's teams (sales, customer success, tech and product, corporate) and its culture. | Before you apply |
| 2. Application | Apply on the careers site. An automated tool helps recruiters assess resumes; you can opt out. | Apply to no more than three roles within 12 months |
| 3. Virtual interviews | Most conversations happen over Google Meet, on camera. Technical candidates may complete an assessment of how they use AI. | Not published |
| 4. On-site interview | An interview at a Salesforce office. | Required before you receive an offer |
| 5. Offer | Your recruiter gives you the details. | Not published |
What is the Salesforce interview process?
Salesforce interviews you mostly over Google Meet, then in person at one of its offices before any offer. Its How we hire page says interviewers may ask behavioural, competency-based or situational questions, and candidates are expected to be on camera in every virtual interview. If you can't be, you can submit an accommodation request.
Salesforce doesn't publish how many interviews a role has, who you'll meet or how long the process takes. Its pages say recruiters give further details during the process, so ask yours at the start.

Hiring for roles like the ones at Salesforce?
Cohesyve takes a job description, finds candidates, reaches out to them and runs an AI job simulation of the real work, then returns a ranked shortlist. Ten candidates free, no card.
What is the Salesforce hiring process?
Salesforce describes four steps: explore, learn, apply and interview. Exploring and learning mean reading about its teams, its culture and its employees' stories before you choose a role. Applying means choosing roles that fit you. Interviewing starts with reviewing the job description carefully.
For early-career candidates, Salesforce's Futureforce programme covers internships, new graduate roles and advanced-degree roles such as MBA and JD internships. Salesforce says its hiring process is "designed to be fast, fair, and thoughtfully human", and that it looks at your skills, experience and potential.
How does the Salesforce application work?
You search and apply for roles on Salesforce's careers site. Three things to know before you do:
- Apply selectively. Salesforce recommends applying to no more than three roles within a 12-month period.
- Match your resume to the posting. Salesforce says the most important step is making sure the skills and qualifications on your resume match the ones in the job description.
- AI helps screen resumes. Salesforce says it uses an automated employment decision tool to help recruiters assess resumes, and you can opt out through its AI accommodations form.
You don't need a technical background: Salesforce hires for non-technical roles too. Former employees can reapply with no waiting period. Relocation help is available for some roles, so ask your recruiter.
Does Salesforce have an online assessment?
For some roles. Salesforce's recruiting team wrote in May 2026 that "technical candidates may complete an assessment demonstrating how they use AI". Its Futureforce page also links a video from its careers channel titled "HackerRank Tips with a Senior Software Engineer at Salesforce", which suggests some technical early-career candidates take a HackerRank test.
Salesforce doesn't publish what its assessments contain, how long they take or how they're scored, and its How we hire page doesn't mention an online assessment. Your recruiter will tell you if your process includes one. If you're sent a HackerRank link, our guide to HackerRank tests explains how the platform works.
For students preparing for software engineering internships, Salesforce runs the Futureforce Tech Launchpad, a paid 10-week pre-internship programme.
What happens in the Salesforce virtual interviews?
Most of your conversations will be on Google Meet, with your camera on. Salesforce says the questions may be:
| Question type | What it asks |
|---|---|
| Behavioural | How you handled real situations in the past |
| Competency-based | Whether you have the skills the job description lists |
| Situational | How you would handle a scenario |
Salesforce's advice is to review the job description, be ready to connect your skills and experience to its qualifications, and prepare to talk about real-life situations. Our guide to situational interview questions covers the scenario format.
What happens in the Salesforce on-site interview?
Salesforce requires an on-site interview at one of its offices before you can receive an offer. It doesn't publish what the on-site involves, how long it lasts or who you'll meet, so ask your recruiter when it's scheduled.
What does Salesforce look for?
Salesforce's five core values are Trust, Customer Success, Innovation, Equality and Sustainability, and it calls trust its top value. On its careers page it says the skills it wants vary by role, but it values collaboration, adaptability, sound judgement and evidence-based decision-making, and that "AI fluency is increasingly important".
Its recruiting team adds detail. It wants "high-velocity learners" who are curious, adapt quickly and invest in their own growth, and it evaluates AI fluency as "a core competency" in every role. It describes AI fluency as knowing which tool to use at the right time, and says that for most roles it has nothing to do with writing code. Non-technical candidates should be ready to talk about their toolkit and what they've learned from it.
Common Salesforce interview questions and how to answer them
Salesforce hasn't published a full question list. The first three questions below come from a Salesforce recruiter's STAR method article, and the fourth from its AI skills article. The rest are types to prepare for, built from Salesforce's values and what it says it looks for.
1. Tell me about a project you worked on from start to finish.
Use the STAR method. The Salesforce recruiter who wrote the article suggests keeping the situation and task brief and spending most of your answer, about 60%, on the action you took. Use "I" statements so your own contribution is clear.
2. Tell me about a time you had to complete a task within a tight deadline.
Show how you prioritised, what you dropped or delegated, and how you kept others informed. Finish with the result and what you'd repeat.
3. Tell me about a time you dealt with a difficult customer or team member.
Customer Success is a core Salesforce value. Show that you listened, found out what the person needed and kept the relationship intact while solving the problem.
4. Walk me through a real example of how you've used AI.
Salesforce says interviews are a chance to show "how you think with AI, not just that you use it". Go beyond routine tasks: describe a higher-stakes problem, what you tried, what didn't work and how you adjusted.
5. Why Salesforce?
Be specific. Link your answer to Salesforce's values, the team you'd join or what you learned on Trailhead, which Salesforce suggests as a way to learn about the company.
6. Tell me about a time you earned someone's trust.
Trust is Salesforce's top value. Pick an example where keeping a commitment, being transparent or owning a mistake built trust with a customer or colleague.
7. Tell me about a decision you made using data.
Salesforce names evidence-based decision-making and sound judgement among the skills it values. Explain what data you looked at, what it told you and how you acted on it.
8. Tell me about a time you had to adapt to a big change.
Adaptability is on Salesforce's list. Show how you adjusted quickly and what you learned from the change.
9. How do you keep learning?
Salesforce wants "high-velocity learners". Give concrete evidence: a certification, a course, a Trailhead badge or a skill you built recently, and what you did with it. Salesforce says Agentblazer status or a Salesforce certification doesn't guarantee an offer, so focus on what you applied.
10. How have you helped build a more inclusive team?
Equality is a core Salesforce value. Describe something specific you did to include others or make a process fairer, and what changed as a result.
11. Do you have any questions for us?
Ask about the team's goals, how it uses AI in its work, or what success looks like in the first months.
How to prepare for the Salesforce interview
- Choose up to three roles that fit you, as Salesforce recommends, and match your resume to each posting.
- Learn about Salesforce on Trailhead, its free learning platform, which Salesforce itself suggests.
- Prepare five or six STAR stories on projects, deadlines, difficult people, trust, data-driven decisions and change. Our list of behavioural interview questions gives you a bank to practise on.
- Prepare one strong AI example that shows how you think with AI, including what went wrong.
- Set up for Google Meet: a quiet room, good light and a working camera, since you'll be on camera.
- Practise out loud, ideally in a mock interview.
- If you're technical, ask your recruiter whether your process includes an assessment, and practise on the platform if it does.
When you prepare application materials with AI, Salesforce's advice is to "use it as an editor, not a ghostwriter".
Practising realistic work tasks
Salesforce's interviews ask how you've handled real work, and realistic practice helps you build those examples. Cohesyve, which publishes this guide, runs practice job simulations for your role, with a scored report on where you lost marks. It isn't affiliated with Salesforce and doesn't use Salesforce's interview questions or assessments.
