Swiggy's hiring process has four steps: an application and recruiter screening, a hiring manager discussion, an interview loop, and a debrief and offer. Swiggy says every conversation is rooted in its values, and each interview in the loop checks two or three competencies tied to them.
Everything below comes from Swiggy's careers site, mainly its How we hire and values pages. Where Swiggy doesn't say something, we say so. The interview questions are ones to prepare for; Swiggy doesn't publish its questions.
The Swiggy hiring process at a glance
| Step | What happens | Who you meet |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Application and recruiter screening | Talent Acquisition reviews your profile. If there's a fit, a recruiter calls for a short conversation about your background, goals and the role. | A recruiter |
| 2. Exploratory or hiring manager discussion | Real scenarios: how you think on your feet, work across teams and get stakeholders aligned. | The hiring manager |
| 3. Interview loop | Several conversations, each on two or three competencies tied to Swiggy's values. | Cross-functional leaders, potential teammates and an HR representative |
| 4. Debrief and offer | The panel meets to discuss your strengths, growth areas, role fit and values alignment. | The interview panel |
Swiggy doesn't publish how long each step takes or the full timeline. Ask your recruiter at the screening stage; Swiggy says that call is a good time to ask about the team and what comes next.
What is the Swiggy hiring process?
You apply on Swiggy's careers site, talk to a recruiter, meet the hiring manager, go through an interview loop and get a decision after a panel debrief. Swiggy describes four principles behind it:
- Values first, skills always. Swiggy says it looks beyond the résumé.
- No repeat questions. Each round is meant to show a different strength.
- Meet your team. You speak with future colleagues as well as HR before an offer.
- Structured and consistent. Swiggy says every candidate goes through the same process.
Swiggy says it wants to understand how you think, how you work with others and the impact you create, as well as what you've achieved.

What happens in the Swiggy recruiter screening?
After you apply, Swiggy's Talent Acquisition team reviews your profile. If there's a potential fit, a recruiter contacts you for a short conversation about your background, what you're looking for and whether the role matches your goals.
Have a one-minute summary of your experience ready, know why you want this role, and bring your own questions about the team and the next steps.
What happens in the Swiggy hiring manager discussion?
Swiggy calls this the exploratory or hiring manager discussion. It works through real scenarios to see how you think on your feet, work across teams without losing momentum, and get stakeholders aligned in practice.
Prepare two or three detailed stories where you moved work forward with people you didn't manage. Be ready for follow-up questions on what you did, what others did and what changed.
What is the Swiggy interview loop?
The loop is a set of interviews with cross-functional leaders, potential teammates and an HR representative. Each conversation focuses on two or three competencies tied to Swiggy's values. Swiggy gives these examples:
| Competency | Swiggy value it maps to |
|---|---|
| Stakeholder management | Think Win-Win |
| Problem solving and curiosity | Always Be Curious |
| Execution and ownership | Move Fast. Break Barriers. Deliver Results |
| Customer centricity | Consumer Comes First |
Expect three kinds of question: real situations you've handled, hypothetical scenarios and functional challenges for your role. Each interviewer assesses you independently, so treat every conversation as a fresh start.
Does Swiggy have an online assessment or coding test?
Swiggy's How we hire page doesn't mention an online assessment or coding test, and it doesn't say which roles have one. It does say the loop includes functional challenges. For engineering roles, prepare to solve and explain technical problems; for business roles, prepare for a case or a data question. Ask your recruiter what the functional round involves.
What happens after the Swiggy interviews?
Once the loop ends, the interview panel meets to discuss what it learnt. Swiggy says it assesses your strengths, your areas for growth, how well the role fits your experience and whether you align with its values and culture. If everything lines up, Swiggy makes an offer and walks you through the next steps. Swiggy doesn't publish how long the debrief takes.
How does Swiggy hire freshers?
Swiggy's Early Careers page lists three programmes:
- Emerging Young Leadership Programme (EYLP): for select students, in sales and business execution, with sessions on data-driven thinking, financial analysis and strategic decision-making.
- Associate Software Development Engineer (aSDE) programme: for engineers, with customised training on technical fundamentals, languages and tooling, problem-solving case studies and Swiggy's engineering practices.
- Store Manager Programme: at Instamart, for freshers with zero to two years of experience, who join full time as Assistant Store Managers.
Swiggy doesn't publish the selection steps for these programmes. Check with your campus placement cell or the recruiter.
Common Swiggy interview questions and how to answer them
Swiggy publishes ten values in three groups. The Heart: Be Humble; Always Be Curious, Always Be Learning; Be Honest, Display the Highest Integrity. The Head: Consumer Comes First; Display a Founder Mentality; Think Win-Win; Think Big. The Hands: Stand Up and Disagree, Then Commit Fully; Do More With Less; Move Fast, Break Barriers, Deliver Results. Use the STAR method for the "tell me about a time" questions below.
1. Tell me about yourself.
Give a one-minute summary: your current role, one result you're proud of and why this Swiggy role. Keep it specific; the recruiter screening uses it to judge fit.
2. Why Swiggy?
Name the business you'd join (food delivery, Instamart, Dineout or a platform team) and what interests you about its problems. Mention something you've noticed as a user, and what you'd want to learn.
3. Tell me about a time you improved something for a customer.
This is Consumer Comes First. Describe what the customer needed, how you found out and how you measured the improvement.
4. Describe a time you owned a problem nobody asked you to fix.
This is Display a Founder Mentality. Show that you took responsibility, thought beyond the short term and saw it through.
5. Tell me about a time you had to get several teams aligned.
Swiggy maps stakeholder management to Think Win-Win. Explain each side's interest, how you found a solution that worked for all of them and what happened.
6. Tell me about a time you disagreed with a decision.
This is Stand Up and Disagree. Then Commit Fully. Show that you raised your view with evidence, and then backed the final decision fully even if it wasn't yours.
7. Tell me about something you delivered quickly under pressure.
This is Move Fast. Break Barriers. Deliver Results. Name the deadline, the obstacle you removed and the result.
8. Describe a time you achieved more with fewer resources.
This is Do More With Less. Talk about how you simplified the problem or reused what you had.
9. What's something you taught yourself recently?
This is Always Be Curious. Always Be Learning. Explain why you learnt it, how, and how you've used it since.
10. Tell me about a mistake you made.
This draws on Be Humble and Be Honest. Own a real mistake, say what you changed afterwards and don't blame others.
11. How would you improve a Swiggy feature you use?
This tests problem-solving and curiosity. Define the user problem, suggest a change, say how you'd measure success and name one risk.
12. Walk me through a hard functional problem from your work.
Swiggy says the loop includes functional challenges. For engineers, explain a design or debugging problem; for business roles, a decision you made from data. Explain the trade-offs you weighed.
13. Do you have any questions for us?
Ask how the team measures success in the first six months, what a typical week looks like, or what the biggest challenge facing the team is.
How to prepare for Swiggy's interview process
- Read Swiggy's ten values and match one real story to each of the four competencies Swiggy names.
- Prepare six STAR stories on customers, ownership, cross-team work, disagreement, speed and a mistake. Our list of behavioural interview questions gives you more to practise on.
- Expect hypotheticals. Practise answering "what would you do if" questions out loud, with a clear structure.
- Prepare for the functional round in your discipline, and ask the recruiter what it involves.
- Use the Swiggy app and note what you'd change, so "why Swiggy" and product questions have real answers.
- Do a mock interview with someone who will push you on follow-up questions.
- Keep each story distinct. Swiggy says it avoids repeat questions, so don't reuse the same example in every round.
Practising realistic work tasks
Swiggy's functional challenges and hypothetical scenarios reward people who can work through a realistic problem, and that improves with practice. Cohesyve, which publishes this guide, runs practice job simulations for your role, with a scored report on where you lost marks. It isn't affiliated with Swiggy and doesn't use Swiggy's tests or questions.
