We Are Hiring Poster Template

A we are hiring poster tells people passing by, or scrolling past, that you have a job open and how to apply: the role, the place, the hours, the pay and one clear next step. Pick the version below for where it will go, fill in your details and copy the text into your poster or flyer design.

We Are Hiring Poster Template

Fill in your details

Every version below updates as you type. A field left empty stays as a [placeholder] in the text you copy.

Your company and sender details are remembered, so the next template starts with them filled in.

Note

Several US states, including Colorado, California, Washington and New York, require pay or a pay range in job postings, and equality law in many countries bans adverts that show a preference by age, sex or other protected characteristics. Check local rules before you publish; this is not legal advice.

How to use this template

  • 1Pick the version for where the poster will be seen: a full poster for a noticeboard, a short sign for a window, a flyer for several roles, a walk-in poster for a hiring day, or a post for social media.
  • 2Fill in the fields above. Anything left empty stays as a [Label] in the copied text, so you can see what is missing before you print.
  • 3Paste the text into your design and put the job title in the largest type. Someone walking past should be able to read the role and how to apply from a few steps away.
  • 4Give one way to apply that works from the poster itself: a short link, a QR code that opens the application, or a person to ask.
  • 5Test the link and the QR code on a phone before you print, and take the poster down as soon as the role is filled.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Too much text. A poster is read in seconds; keep the detail for the job advert the link opens.
  • Leaving the pay off. Candidates skip jobs that hide it, and in some places a job posting must state it.
  • Wording that suggests a preference by age, sex or another protected characteristic, such as "young and energetic" or "recent graduates", which equality law in many countries does not allow.
  • A QR code or link that opens a home page instead of the application, so the candidate has to search for the job.
  • No closing date, so the poster stays up and keeps attracting applications after the job is filled.

Questions

What should a we are hiring poster include?

The job title, the company, the location, the type of work and hours, the pay, two or three lines on the job and the person you want, and one clear way to apply with a closing date. Add a contact for questions and an offer of adjustments.

What is the difference between a hiring poster and a job posting?

A poster or flyer catches attention where people already are, such as a shop window or a social feed, and sends them to apply. The job posting is the full advert they land on, with the duties, requirements and terms in detail.

How do I make a now hiring sign?

Keep it to the words "Now hiring", the role, full-time or part-time, the pay and one way to apply, such as "Ask any member of staff" or a short link. Use large type and put it at eye level in the window or by the till.

Should I put the pay on a hiring poster?

Yes, where you can. It is one of the first things a candidate looks for, and some US states, including Colorado, California, Washington and New York, require pay or a pay range in job postings. Check whether your local rules apply to posters and flyers.

What should a walk-in interview poster say?

The role, the date, time and full venue address, who is eligible, what documents to bring, and a way to apply for anyone who cannot attend. Saying that you never charge a fee helps candidates tell your poster apart from a job scam.

Where should I put a hiring poster?

Where the people you want to hire already go: your own premises, local noticeboards, colleges and community centres for local roles, and your company pages and staff networks on social media.
